Igniter Assembly
The igniter is mounted on the heat chamber panel.

1. Disconnect the high voltage ignition lead from the igniter.
2. Remove the two screws securing the igniter to the sheet metal
panel.
3. Igniter gap should be 1/8 in. See Fig. 25.

The igniter and ground rod should be cleaned during routine
maintenance to maintain proper ignition.
-- Use steel wool or emery cloth.
-- Rub briskly to remove buildup of dust, dirt,
and oxide.
■ Check the igniter's ceramic base for cracks.
-- Replace the igniter if cracks are found.

WARNING
Burn Hazard
■ Do not operate the heater with the high limit
switch bypassed.
■ Operating the heater bypassed high limit switch
may lead to overheating, possibly resulting in a
fi re, with subsequent damage to the heater or
property damage.
This heater has two high limit switches. One is located
at the burner end of the heater on the heat chamber.
See Fig. 26. The other is located on the fan housing end
above the fan motor. See Fig. 27.

Their purpose is to safely shut the heater down if the
heater should overheat.
Burner end limit: Protects the burner and associ-
ated wiring from overheating caused by excessive gas
pressure.
