Emptying, Cleaning, Disposal
6.1
Emptying
The emptying process includes
the separated fats,
the settled sediments and
the residual water.
Depending on how intensively it is used,
the grease separator plant (separator
plus sludge trap) should ideally be fully
emptied and cleaned once a fortnight
and certainly at least once a month (in
accordance with DIN 4040). At the very
latest, this must be done:
when the sludge trap is half full
with sediments or when the grease lay-
er has reached a thickness of 160 mm.
6.2
Cleaning
Caution
Suck out all the contents from the sludge
trap and separator and spray them clean.
Then clean the entire interior. Take care
when cleaning the inside walls so as not
to damage the internal coating. Particular
care should be taken when sucking out
6.3
Disposal
Local regulations must be observed when
getting rid of the separator contents.

Lipumax with internal coating and
Lipumax with PE-HD internal lining:
In these cases, please see the type plate
for the specific characteristic data.
These deadlines apply to grease sepa-
rators at catering establishments.
Grease separators in slaughterhouses,
meat processing units or similar loca-
tions must be cleaned at least once a
week and may even need to be emptied
daily.
the sediments that have been deposited
at the bottom. Rinse and clean the sepa-
rator outlet, starting from the sampling
shaft. Use pressurised water and work in
the opposite direction to the flow direc-
tion.
After emptying and cleaning the plant,
fill it with water until it overflows (see
note on page 20).
Put the lid back on and seal it so that it
is odour-proof.
The emptying/cleaning schedule should
be organised in such a way that no wa-
ter (or only a small quantity) is fed into
the plant while the disposal process is
under way.
For details of the plant's capacity, ple-
ase refer to the relevant type sheet/
type plate.
The plant should also be emptied prior
to lengthy breaks in operation (e.g.
business shutdown periods).
ACO recommends that you take out
a contract with a specialist disposal
contractor.
Enter the details of the disposal pro-
cess in the operating log. Retain the
waste disposal records. An operating
log must be kept to record what work
has been carried out.
