Faults
The battery charger is proceted against battery polarity reversal
by means of a rectifier and a fuse.
This fuse is located at the front panel and protects the charge
current circuit.
In case of short circuit or polarity reversal this fuse will be blown.
In case of an internal fault an internally located fuse in the 220
Volt circuit may be blown. Remove the side panel on the right
side to reach the fuse.
An automatic battery charger as the BC15B is unable to distin-
guish between a fully charged battery and a battery in poor con-
dition. In both cases the charge current will be low!
Especially when a battery is fully discharged, it might be possi-
ble that the battery doesn't accept a charge current either tem-
porarely or permanently. The charger will increase the voltage
to 14.2 Volt but the charge current is minimal. The battery
charger will now select by itself the FLOAT function and the bat-
tery will even accept less charge current.
In case of a fully discharged battery select the permanent
BOOST function of the battery charger (see Set-up) until the
battery starts to accept a charge current. This can take between
a few minutes up to several days. After a number of charge and
discharge cycles the battery may recover and the charger can
be reset to the standard charge characteristic.
If occasionally a consumer is switched on the battery charger
will return every time to the BOOST-phase and so the voltage
will increase. This can be very annoying because the lighting
will be brighter and fans will start running faster.
In case of such a use of the battery the PERMANENT BOOST
PHASE is recommended to overcome this inconvienance (See
Set-up).
