9 Fitting Advice

9.1
Moisture Collects Inside the Distal end of the Device:
The perforations are clogged.
9.2
Any Discoloration is Noticed on the Residuum:
Incorrectly fitting device.
9.3
Moisture in the Distal End of the Device
If moisture collects inside the distal end of the device, refer to the following table:
The distal perforations are clogged.
The socket does not have enough space in its
distal end for the valve to open.
The internal shape of the lock-body is
stopping the valve from opening.
9.4
Loss of Vacuum
If the device loses vacuum, refer to the following table:
The valve is damaged.
Debris beneath the valve preventing correct
seal.
The locking pin is not aligned with the long
axis of the residual limb.
9.5
Separation of the Valve from the Distal Cap
If the valve falls off the distal cap, refer to the following table:
The valve is not fitted correctly.
Note... Do not over-tighten the locing pin/lock rod.

Contact your practitioner.

Put the spacer between the pin lock and the
valve. (See Fitting the Spacer section.)
If unsuccessful cast another socket.
Put the spacer between the pin lock and the
valve. (See Fitting the Spacer section.)
Stop using the device, and contact your
practitioner for a replacement.
Clean the valve. (See Cleaning the Valve
section.)
Re-align the locking pin
the residual limb.
Make sure that the washer is between the pin
and the valve. (See Fitting the Valve section.)
