Shortening the counterbalancing mechanism + support / deflection shafts
Counterbalancing mechanisms can be shortened at one end within certain predefined size ranges.
The shortening depends on the installed spring length in accordance with the tensile strength.
The tensile strength of the springs is stamped on the milled-on double flat spindle.
Stamping 6 = 6 kg. Tensile strength of spring
Dimension range of counterbalancing mechanism, can be shortened at one end up to tube length of
I = 445mm
Shortening at expander end = opposite the double flat spindle (double flat spindle = spring side)
Stamping 10 = 10 kg. Tensile strength of spring
Dimension range of counterbalancing mechanism, can be shortened at one end up to tube length of
I = 670mm
Shortening at expander end = opposite the double flat spindle (double flat spindle = spring side)

Shortening the counterbalancing tube:
The tube length is determined by the internal dimension of the cabinet width.
Calculation of correct tube length = internal dimension of width - 40mm
Mark on the new dimension, check whether clamping ring has to be removed.
If shortening is required in the vicinity of the clamping ring, the ring must be removed by drilling out the
rivet and riveted on again after shortening the tube if necessary.
Riveting on the clamping ring:
Slide shutter rod into the remaining clamping rings (at least 2 clamping rings)
Slide clamping ring onto shutter rod + tube and align so that shutter rod is
linear to the tube, then drill off clamping ring + tube and re-rivet.
Shortening the tube at the expander end only (not riveted end).
Release expander at expander end using SW12 open-ended spanner and pull off expander.
If the expander cannot be released because of jamming, the tube can be shortened first, whereby it must
be ensured that only the wall of the tube is slightly sawed into around the entire circumference using a
hacksaw until the tube is shortened accordingly.
Drive the expander plugs out of the shortened tube using a punch, for example, insert again at the
shortened counterbalancing mechanism flush with the cut surface and tighten.
