Preparing for windscreen removal
Remove all attachment parts which you could damage by re-
moving the screen, such as windscreen wiper arms, borders,
covers, interior mirrors, sensors and their connecting cables .
Insert the awl in the bottom left-hand edge of the windscreen
from the inside towards the outside . (Fig . 1)
Fit the windscreen removal cord into the awl slit and pull the
end approx . 1 m into the vehicle's interior . Feed this end of
the windscreen removal cord between the two pulleys of
the removal device from the front . Insert the removal cord
through the shaft hole and knot it . Secure the windscreen
removal cord by turning clockwise (5–6 turns) with the Allen
key .
Position the removal device as shown in figures 2 and 3 . Now
route the windscreen removal cord around the outside of the
vehicle windscreen in a clockwise direction . Ensure that the
windscreen removal cord is on the adhesive bead between
the screen and the frame . If necessary, use the mounting
wedge to help you .
Cut the windscreen removal cord so that it overlaps the
insertion point by at least 20 cm and knot it on the fastening
hook (Fig . 2) .
Now attach the fastening hook to a suitable place in the
engine compartment . (Not the windscreen wiper shafts!)
ATTENTION: Make sure that during the removal process
the windscreen removal cord cannot damage any
appliances, cables, hoses or coverings and secure the
windscreen so that it cannot fall out.
