4.2

Additional requirements

4.2.1 Enclosure
Connection of the connection lead of control and
signalling devices, series C22, shall be made in
an enclosure in a recognized type of protection
in accordance with IEC/EN 60079-0 (for exam-
ple, in a connection box in the type of protection
'Increased Safety e'), for which an EU Type
Examination Certificate or IECEx has been
issued!

4.2.2 Equipotential bonding

The equipotential bonding shall be assured by
the mounting of the control and signalling
devices, series C22, onto the complete installa-
tion. This is not required if the built-in equipment
meets the requirements for Protection Class II
(insulated). When installing in a plastic enclo-
sure, the supplied connection lug is used for
equipotential bonding.
4.2.3 Installation of connection lead
The connection lead of the control and signalling
devices, series C22, shall be installed perma-
nently and in such a way that it is protected
against mechanical damage.

Maintenance

The valid provisions of IEC/EN 60079-17 shall
be observed when carrying out inspection,
servicing or maintenance work. During ser-
vicing, it is particularly important to check
those components upon which the type of
protection depends.
The flameproof control and signalling
devices, series C22, cannot be repaired.
If there is any damage to the control and sig-
nalling devices (damaged lens, torn-off toggle,
faulty cable), they shall be replaced immediately.
