12.3 Connect to mains

Before you operate the device, make sure that a suit-
able mains power supply is available. Fuse protection
shall correspond to the technical data.
Alternatively you may connect the device to a power
generator. Please note:
‰ If you want to use the full power range of the welding
equipment, the output power of the generator must at
least match the input power of the welding equipment
(see Technical Data).
‰ In case the generator gets overloaded, an uncontrolled
pulsation of the arc may occur or the arc collapses.
Mains cable extensions
‰ Use exclusively flawless cables which meet the fuse
protection.
‰ Coiled cables may heat-up! Always unwind the exten-
sion cables completely.
Using a very long cable extension, the mains voltage
at the device may drop and the welding performance de-
creases. Shorten the extension or/and use an extension
with larger conductor cross section.

12.4 Electrode welding process

Connecting the electrode cable
Connect the electrode cable to the minus 8 or plus 7
socket and secure the cable by turning it to the right.
Note the manufacturer information when you
i
select a suitable stick electrode. The elec-
trode diameter depends on the thickness of
the material to be welded.
Welding with positive (+) electrode:
connect the electrode holder to the positive pole con-
nector 7 and lock it by turning the plug clockwise.
Welding with negative (–) electrode:
connect the electrode holder to the negative pole con-
nector 8 and lock it by turning the plug clockwise.
Press the handle at the grip of the electrode holder.
Clamp the electrode with its blank end in the holder.
Consider when doing the notch at the inner side of
both blocks.

12.5 TIG welding process

For TIG welding a TIG valve-torch is nec-

When converting the torch to another elec-
trode diameter, please observe thefollowing.
‰ The collet 53, collet body 51 and electrode 54
musthave the same diameter.
‰ The gas nozzle 50 must be matched to the electrode
diameter.
