3 Set-up and connection
3.1 Connecting the pressure reducer to a CO
3.1.1 Connection to reusable CO
W21.8 x 1/14")
• Using the Allen key, screw the adapter slowly and without canting
into the connection socket of the pressure reducer, tighten firmly.
• Turn setting knob as far as it will go in direction "-" (CO
shut off).
• Connect pressure reducer to CO
is fitted correctly and that the sealing surfaces are clean Tighten
coupling ring finger-tight with 27mm spanner.
3.1.2 Connection to disposable Dennerle CO
nection thread M10 x 1.25)
• Turn setting knob as far as it will go in direction "-" (CO
shut off).
• Check whether the washer in the connection socket of the pressure
reducer and the sealing surface of the cylinder valve are clean.
• Screw pressure reducer slowly into place without canting, until a
slight resistance becomes noticeable: This indicates that the pin in
the connection socket of the pressure reducer has established con-
tact with the cylinder valve. Then swiftly turn the pressure reducer
by roughly a further half-turn and tighten finger-tight. A brief hiss
may occur at this point.
Quantum: The cylinder pressure manometer will now indicate ap-
prox. 60 bar (at 20 °C)
• The pressure reducer can be unscrewed again at any time – the cy-
linder valve closes automatically. A brief hissing sound may also
occur when unscrewing the pressure reducer – it is thus advisable
to unscrew the pressure reducer swiftly at the beginning.
3.2 Fitting the check valve in the CO
• Using a strong pair of scissors, cut a piece of approx. 10 cm in
length from the CO
hose, ensuring that the cut is straight.
2
• Unscrew both coupling rings from the CO
• Slide hoses as far as they will go onto the hose connectors and fix
with coupling rings.
Important: The arrow on the check valve must point in the CO
direction, i.e. in the direction of the long hose section
• It is also possible to fit the CO
the hose. However, please note that the shorter the distance is bet-
ween pressure reducer and check valve, the faster and simpler it
will be to set the number of bubbles.

reducer
• Primus: Slide hose onto hose connector as far as it will go and se-
cure with clip (to open, push the ends of the clip apart at the side).
• Quantum: Unscrew coupling ring from the hose connector of the
pressure reducer, slide on CO

Your CO
pressure reducer is now ready for use
2
Now install the other components of your CO
as the CO
bubble counter, CO
diffusor, CO

2
Please observe the instructions for use of the devices concerned.
4 Setting the amount of CO
4.1 The right amount of CO
2
For lush plant growth, Dennerle recommends a CO
rium of approx. 20 to 25 mg/l.
Levels of CO
above 30 mg/l are not necessary for healthy plant
2
growth and should be avoided, so as to ensure that the fish are not
subjected to unnecessary stress.
4.2 Determining the CO
content in the aquarium
2
Certain correlations apply between CO
(KH) and pH value. The CO
content in the water can be calculated
2
accurately on the basis of the pH value and carbonate hardness. Suit-
able pH and KH tests are available from specialist retailers.
• Measure the carbonate hardness of your aquarium water.
• Read the pH value which corresponds to the desired CO
from the table. You should set this pH value +/- 0.1 by adjusting
the number of bubbles accordingly.
Example: Carbonate hardness 4 °d, recommended pH 6.8 +/- 0.1.
