Setting up your aquarium:
Choose an appropriate location for the aquarium. The location should be relatively dark, for example
in the corner of a room. The aquarium should not be exposed to direct sunlight. Too much light will
lead to unwanted algae and may harm the fish and plants in the aquarium as a result of overheating.
4
Place aquarium on a smooth, horizontal surface with an adequate
load-bearing capacity. Do not place the aquarium on electrical
appliances or on furniture with surfaces which are liable to
staining by water.
Please note. The total weights of the set up: Aquaponics 23
completely with water and additives is approx. 25 kg.
Step 1
Clean the aquarium and accessories thoroughly with clean tap
water and rinse the aquarium completely clean. Never use
cleaning products or alcohol and always use a perfectly clean
bucket. Cover the bottom with clean aquarium gravel of your
choice.
Step 2
Fill the aquarium slowly with clean tap water of around 20°C.
For tropical fish you need to use an aquarium heater. The SuperFish
NanoHeater 50 Watt is a perfect choice for the Aquaponics 23.
Place the heater behind plants or decorations so it is not visible.
Make sure it is well submerged in water! First carefully read the
heater manual before usage!
Step 3
Clean the plant tray with clean tap water and place on the back
side of the aquarium. Place the AquaLED 4 lighting in the plant
tray.
Step 4
Install the Aquaponics 23 filter into the plant tray. Your aquarium
filter helps to keep the water healthy therefore you need to clean
it weekly. Click the cartridge from the filter and rinse it with fresh
tap water. The cartridge contains activated carbon that absorbs
harmful substances from the water therefore you need to replace
the cartridge monthly.
