Cabling the PDUs

The methods that you use to cable your rack components to a power strip or PDU depend on many factors.
For 10-A and 12-A power strips and 16-A, 24/32-A PDUs, 30-A Three-Phase PDUs, and 60-A Single-Phase
PDUs various inlet and outlet power cords are provided with each unit based on national and regional
specifications. Each power strip or PDU is shipped with one or two region-specific inlet cables and, in some
cases, a number of standard IEC 60320 outlet cables in various lengths and a NEMA-to-IEC adapter cable.
The inlet power cords for 10-A and 12-A power strips and 16-A PDUs are detachable. The detachable power
cords come with a support bracket that attaches to the PDU case to help secure the inlet power connector
to the PDU. The inlet power cord for the 24/32-A PDU, the 30-A Three-Phase PDU, and the 60-A Single-
Phase PDU is fixed.
The 32-A and 40-A PDUs use terminal block connections that must be hardwired to a main AC source by a
licensed electrician. For 32-A and 40-A PDUs, various outlet power cords are provided with each unit based
on national and regional specifications. An inlet cable and conduit are not supplied with the 32-A and 40-A
PDUs.
CAUTION:
PDUs that attach directly to a main AC source by terminal block connections must be installed
by a licensed electrician. Always follow the local and national electrical codes and regulations for your country
or region.
