m Important! Pull out the mains plug before carry-
ing out maintenance, reset or assembly work on
the device!
Attachment of the machine (Fig. 1)
The device must be screwed onto a workbench, machine stand
or similar before commissioning. Use the elongated holes (A)
and fastening screws (B) for this.
Installing the tool support (6) (Fig. 1; 4)
1.
Fit the tightening lever (14) of the tool support (5) as
shown in Figure 6.
2.
Plug the tool support holder (6) into the hole in the tool
mount (5).
3.
Fasten the tool support holder (6) at the desired height
using the locking screw (13).
Setting the tool support holder (6) (Fig. 1; 4; 6)
1.
The height of the tool support holder (6) can be set by
loosening the locking screw (13).
2.
In order to set the length of the tool support holder (6),
loosen the clamping lever for the tool support holder
(14). The tool support (6) must be driven as close as pos-
sible to the workpiece without touching it.
3.
Retighten the clamping lever for the tool support holder
(14).
Adjusting the tailstock (Fig. 1; 5)
1.
Loosen the clamping lever (11) of the tailstock (9) in or-
der to set the distance between the tailstock (9) and the
headstock drive centre (4).
2.
Pull the tightening lever (11) again once the desired tail-
stock (9) position has been reached.
3.
Use the hand wheel (10) to adjust the clamping pressure
and secure it with the counternut (8).
Warning! Make sure that the tool support (6) is
firmly tightened and cannot turn towards the
workpiece.
Secure the workpiece on the headstock drive cen-
tre (Fig. 1; 2)
1.
Locate the centre of the workpiece by drawing precise
diagonal lines at both ends. The intersection of these two
lines indicates the centre of the workpiece.
2.
At the end of the workpiece, produce an approx. 2 mm
deep saw cut along the diagonal, in order to receive the
headstock drive centre (4).
3.
Using a wooden hammer (not included in the scope of
delivery), drive the headstock drive centre (4) into the
point where the diagonal cuts over the end of the work-
piece. Make sure to protect the threaded end of the
headstock drive centre (4) so that no object damages
the thread.
4.
Cut the corners off the workpiece if the diameter of the
ends is greater than 5 cm x 5 cm to make turning easier
and safer.
5.
Measure the total length of the workpiece using the head-
stock drive centre (4) and the centring pin (7) at each
end.
6.
Loosen the tightening lever (11) for the tailstock (9) and
set the distance between the headstock drive centre (4)
and the centring pin (7), such that a slightly greater dis-
tance is obtained than the measured total length of the
workpiece.
7.
Screw the headstock drive centre (4) with the workpiece
onto the centring pin (7) using the hand wheel (10).
8.
Affix the counternut (8) to the tailstock (9).
9.
Set the tool mount (5) with tool support holder (6) ap-
prox. 3 mm away from the workpiece.
Caution: Before starting the machine, check the
set-up by rotating the workpiece by hand to en-
sure that there is enough free space available and
that it does not come into contact with the tool sup-
port (6).
Using the face plate: (Fig. 3)
To use the face plate:
• The face plate (15) provides a firm and secure hold for a
large number of turned objects such as plates, bowls, pots
and round parts.
Assembly of the face plate:
1.
Loosen the headstock drive centre (4) and remove from
the spindle.
2.
Screw the face plate (15) onto the spindle of the head-
stock and tighten with the spanner by hand.
Securing the workpiece on the face plate:
Workpieces that cannot be machined with the headstock drive
centre (4) must instead be mounted on a face plate (15) or a
counter piece, such as a clamping chuck or wooden block.
1.
Before mounting on the face plate (15), cut the work-
piece as close as possible to the final shape.
2.
Attach the face plate (15) securely to the workpiece. Depend-
ing on the workpiece, this can be done using wood screws
(not included in the scope of delivery) that are screwed di-
rectly into the workpiece. If the intended cutting dimensions do
not permit screws, a counter piece may be required. A back
piece can be made from an old wooden cube piece with two
flat and parallel opposing surfaces. Identify and mark the cen-
tre of the carrier part. It may be necessary to bond the carrier
part (wooden block) with the workpiece and attach it to the
carrier part, before fastening it to the face plate (15) using
screws (not included in the scope of delivery). In this case,
clamp the carrier part to the workpiece and wait until the glue
has dried as per the recommendation of the glue manufac-
turer. If the use of screws in the workpiece is not permitted,
the workpiece can be glued with a piece of paper between
the joint. This enables later separation without damaging the
workpiece. Only use non-conical wood screws. Do not use
wood screws with a conical head.
Caution: Pay attention to the wood-turning chisel
so that it does not touch the retaining screws on
the finished dimensions of the workpiece.
Switching on and off (Fig. 1)
• Press the on switch (2/"I") to start the machine.
• Press the off switch (2/"0") to stop the machine.
