Care

At home

Daily:
Change the water in the humidifier bottle.
Rinse the humidifier bottle and cap in clear, lukewarm
water.
Rinse the outside of the nasal cannula with clear, lukewarm
water, holding the open ends downwards so that water
cannot enter the hose.
Always use a clean brush and a clean cloth to avoid all
risk of infection.
Do not use washing-up water.
Weekly:
Humidifier:
Clean the humidifier bottle and cap with a mild detergent
and water.
Rinse the humidifier bottle and cap under running water to
remove all soap residues.
Dry the parts with a clean cloth or leave them to dry in air.
Wipe the surface of the unit with a clean, damp disposable
cloth. Use a mild detergent.
Do not allow any liquid to seep inside the unit or its
connections – this may damage the unit.
Monthly:
Dust filter:
Replace the dust filter every month or when clogged.

In the hospital

Note the hospital hygiene regulations.
Use a new nasal cannula for each patient in order to
avoid infection.
Weekly:
Surface of the unit, cables and hoses:
wipe-disinfect.
Humidifier:
Use a disinfectant bath for the humidifier bottle and cap.
To ensure material compatibility, use disinfectants based on:
— aldehydes
— quaternary ammonium compounds
Preparations based on the following should not be used, as
they may damage the materials.
— compounds releasing halogens
— strong organic acids
— compounds releasing oxygen.
Note the instructions for use of the disinfectant
manufacturer in order to avoid damage to the unit and
incorrect disinfection.
