Active Speaker Column for
Dante Audio Networks
These instructions are intended for install
ers with knowledge in network technol
ogy. Please read the instructions carefully
prior to operation and keep them for later
reference.
1 Applications
This speaker column is specially designed for
PA systems based on Dante audio networks. It
is equipped with a robust metal housing that
provides six fullrange speakers and a Class D
amplifier. With a maximum digital input signal,
the amplifier will provide 30 W of power.
The network will provide the speaker col
umn with power via PoE (Power over Ethernet).
1.1 Dante
Dante, an audio network developed by the
company Audinate, allows transmission of
up to 512 audio channels at the same time.
Dante (Digital Audio Network Through Ether
net) uses a common Ethernet standard and is
based on the Internet protocol. The transmis
sion of audio signals is uncompressed and syn
chronized, with minimum latency. The advan
tage over analog audio signal transmission is
a costeffective connection of components via
standard network cables and low susceptibility
to interference, even in case of long transmis
sion paths. In addition, signal routing between
components that have once been connected
can be changed by software at any time.
In the Dante network, units configured as
transmitters are used as signal sources. Units
such as ETS630DT configured as receivers re
ceive the signals from the Dante network.
The transmitting channels and reception
channels are assigned in the Dante network via
the Dante configuration program "Dante Con
troller" (
chapter 5). The Ethernet interface
☞
is also configured via this program (
ter 5.2). For correct configuration, knowledge
in network technology is indispensable.

2 Important Notes
The unit corresponds to all relevant directives of
the EU is therefore marked with
•
The unit is suitable for indoor use only. Pro
tect it against dripping water, splash water
and high air humidity. The admissible ambi
ent temperature range is 0 – 40 °C.
•
For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth; never
use water or chemicals.
•
No guarantee claims for the unit and no li
ability for any resulting personal damage or
material damage will be accepted if the unit
is used for other purposes than originally in
tended, if it is not correctly installed, or if it is
not repaired in an expert way.
If the unit is to be put out of operation
definitively, take it to a local recycling
plant for a disposal which is not harmful
to the environment.
3 Installation
The installation is shown in figure 1.
1) Drill two holes at the location of installation
(e. g. wall). Use appropriate dowels, depend
ing on the nature of the location of instal
lation.
2) Use stable screws to fasten the two mount
ing brackets to the location of installation.
3) Use the screws and washers provided to
fasten the speaker column between the
mounting brackets; align the speaker col
umn towards the audience.
4 Connection
For connection to a Dante network, use a Cat 5
cable or Cat 6 cable to connect the RJ45 jack
INPUT to an Ethernet switch that at least sup
ports Fast Ethernet (100 Mbit / s Ethernet). This
connection will also supply the speaker column
with power via the network (e. g. via a network
☞
chap
switch with PoE supply). To obtain the maxi
mum power, use a PoE supply according to the
standard IEEE 802.3at2009 "PoE+" (e. g. TPE
TG44G).
