This symbol indicates any relevant additional information
Attention: Any failure to observe this warning note can cause damage or mal-
function, including possible loss of the safety function.
3 DESCRIPTION
3.1 Device description
The safety device described in this manual is defined according to the Machinery
Directive 2006/42/EC as logic component for safety functions.
The safety modules to which these usage instructions refer are devices specifically
designed and manufactured for use on industrial machines. The safety function en-
sures that the safety outputs are switched off within the defined reaction time if the
measured motor voltage exceeds a set limit value.
3.2 Device functions
This device is suitable for the following applications: as a module for motor
standstill monitoring by measuring residual voltages in the phases, in safety circuits
up to category 3 acc. to EN ISO 13849-1, up to SIL 2 acc. to EN 62061 and up to PL d
acc. to EN ISO 13849-1.
- Input with 1 or 2 channels.
- Galvanic separation between control circuit and measurement circuit.
- Output contacts: 2 NO safety contacts (13-14, 23-24), 1 NC auxiliary contact (31-32).
- 2 semiconductor outputs: 1 signalling output for failure state (FAULT Y35) and 1
signalling output for signalling the switching operation of the safety relay (OUT Y32).
- Indicator LEDs for applied supply voltage, state of the voltage in the input circuits,
switching state of the outputs and error display of the module and measuring circuits.
- Reset input for resetting the module after possible errors in the measuring circuits
(RES).
- Possibility to connect single-phase or three-phase motors to measuring circuits.
- Setting of the evaluation of the residual voltage at motor standstill in 10 levels.
- Function for detecting an interrupted measuring circuit.
- Function for checking the simultaneity time of rising and falling edges of the voltage
in measuring circuits
- Capacity and number of output contacts can be increased.
- Screw terminals or plug-in terminals with screw connections or spring terminals (de-
pending on the model).
- Snap-mounting on DIN rails.
3.3 Intended use of the device
- The device described in these operating instructions is designed to be applied on
industrial machines.
- The direct sale of this device to the public is prohibited. Installation and use must be
carried out by qualified personnel only.
- The use of the device for purposes other than those specified in these operating
instructions is prohibited.
- Any use other than as expressly specified in these operating instructions shall be
considered unintended by the manufacturer.
- Also considered unintended use:
a) using the device after having made structural, technical, or electrical modifications
to it;
b) using the product in a field of application other than as described in paragraph
TEChNICAL DATA.
4 OPERATION
4.1 Function diagrams
- If supply voltage is applied, the PWR LED illuminates and the device starts the self-
test. During the self-test, the module must not detect any voltage at the phases for the
motor power supply (the motor must be at a standstill) and the connection with the
phases must be intact. If voltage is still present during the self-test or if the self-test is
not successfully passed, the module switches to the fault state.
- In the fault state, the module immediately enters a safe state in which it switches off
any active relay and signals the fault state by activating output FAULT Y35 and switch-
ing on the FAULT LED.
- If the self-test is passed and feedback contact Y1-Y2 closed, the module switches to

the "voltage-free" state and activates the safety relay, LEDs Ch1, Ch2 and semicon-
ductor output OUT Y32.
- After the measuring circuits have detected a voltage that exceeds the threshold Uon,
the module switches to the "voltage present" state and deactivates the relay, LEDs
Ch1 and Ch2 as well as semiconductor output OUT Y32.
- If a voltage is detected that is below the switch-off threshold Uoff on both channels,
the module returns to the "voltage-free" state and activates the safety relay, LEDs
Ch1, Ch2 and semiconductor output OUT Y32. If the time between the switch-off
times for Uoff of the two channels is greater than the permissible value for the simul-
taneity, the module switches to the fault state.
- The error state can only be rectified by restarting the module or by applying and then
removing a voltage of 24 V between the reset terminal RES and the external ground
reference point Y30.

4.3 Product variations
A number of product variations are available whose properties differ from those of the
base version of the safety module.
Attention: Before using these product variations, an accurate risk assessment
must always be performed that takes into consideration how the differing mode of
operation with respect to the base version affects the planned application.
