3.4- Additional safety advice for the blower.
1. Inspect the working area before using the blower vacuum. Remove all debris and hard objects such as
rocks, glass, wire, etc., that could cause injury or damage during operation.
2. Avoid accidental starting. Ensure the switch is in the OFF position before connecting to the mains supply.
Keep your hands and fingers away from the switch while connecting the unit to the power source.
3. Never run the unit without the proper equipment attached. When used as a blower, always install the
blower tubes. Use only recommended attachments. Do not use with any opening blocked. Keep free of dust,
lint, hair and anything that may reduce air flow.
4. To avoid spreading fire, do not use blower near leaf or brush fire, fireplaces, barbecue pits, ashtrays, etc.
5. Never place objects inside the blower tubes. Always direct the blown debris away from people, animals,
glass and solid objects such as trees, automobiles, walls, etc. The force of air can cause rocks, dirt or sticks to
be thrown or to ricochet which can hurt people or animals, break glass or cause other damage.
6. Never use for spreading chemicals, fertilizers, toxic materials or any other substances
3.5- Additional safety advice for the vacuum
1. Stop the motor and disconnect the power source before opening the inlet cover or attempting
to insert or remove the vacuum tubes. The motor must be stopped and the impeller blades no longer turning
to avoid serious injury from the rotating blades.
2. Hard object can be projected through the collection bag or the housing and become dangerous missiles,
which can cause serious injury to the operator or others.
3. When using the vacuum attachment, the unit is designed to pick up dry material such as leaves, grass,
small twigs and bits of paper. Do not vacuum stones, gravel, metal, broken glass, etc to avoid severe damage
the impeller. To avoid the possibility of electrical shock, do not attempt to vacuum water or other liquids.
4. Never run the unit without the proper equipment attached. When used as a vacuum always install the
vacuum tubes and the collection bag. Make sure the collection bag is securely fitted when the unit is running
to avoid flying debris. Use only recommended attachments.
5. Avoid situations which could set the collection bag on fire. Do not vacuum discarded matches, cigars,
cigarettes or ash from fireplaces, barbecue pits, bush fires, etc.
6. Always use the shoulder strap when vacuum to avoid loss of control.
7. Check the debris collection bag frequently for wear out or deterioration before each use.
8. Check air intake openings and vacuum tubes frequently, always with the unit stopped and the power
source disconnected. Keep vents and tubes free of debris which can accumulate and restrict proper air flow.
Keep free of dust, lint, hair, and anything that may reduce air flow.
3.6- Personal safety
a) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating the machine. Do not
use the machine while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment
of inattention while operating the machine may result in serious personal injury.
b) Use personal protective equipment. Always wear ear, eye, hands and dust mask protection.
Protective equipment such as dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection or eye
protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.
c) Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to power
source, picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying the machine with your finger on the switch or energising
machine that has the switch on invites accidents.
d) Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the machine on. A wrench or a key left attached
to a rotating part of the machine may result in personal injury.
e) Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. Always be sure of your footing on
slopes. This enables better control of the machine in unexpected situations.
f) Dress properly. Wear substantial footwear and long trousers when operating the machine.Do not
wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose
clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
g) If the machine is provided for the connection of extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are
