8.3
Safety regulations for repairs and
extraordinary maintenance
The Manufacturer recommends contacting authorised service
centres for all operations over and above normal routine
maintenance (oil and filter change, etc). It should be noted that the
warranty offered by the manufacturer is invalidated if:
The instructions given in the "use and maintenance"
manual are not scrupulously respected,
Routine maintenance is not performed as and when
indicated;
Lubricants other than those specified are used;
Repairs or maintenance are performed by unqualified
personnel;
Non-original spare parts are used;
Unsuitable tools are used.
IMPORTANT - The customer is responsible for
verifying that original parts only are used when
carrying out repairs. The use of non-original spare
parts could jeopardise the safety of the machine.
All operations must be performed by qualified
personnel with the necessary technical skills to
perform the operations in the maximum safety and in
respect of current legislation.
8.4
Routine maintenance
All maintenance operations should be performed with the machine
tilted to allow access from the bottom. The machine must not be
tilted when there is fuel in the tank or the batteries are in position.
Before tilting the machine, remove the batteries and empty the tank.
IMPORTANT – Do not tilt the machine with the
batteries mounted or the tank full of fuel.
8.4.1
Maintenance of the internal combustion engine
For all routine maintenance, controls or verification of operation,
refer to the annexed Honda engine manual. To access the engine,
open the engine cowling.
8.4.2
Filling with fuel (model with internal combustion
engine)
Open the seat cowling until the support rods lock into
position;
Unscrew the tank cap;
Fill the tank, making sure no fuel is spilled outside the
tank.
8.4.3
Replacing run-down batteries (model with petrol
engine)
The electric starter battery for starting the internal combustion
engine is located under the handlebar between the pedals.
Remove the plastic protection;
Disconnect the terminals;
Remove the battery.
8.4.4
Replacing the engine oil (model with petrol
engine)
Attached to the oil sump, there is a vertical tube closed with a
hexagonal head threaded cap.

To empty the engine oil, slope the tube downwards, open the cap
and collect the exhausted oil in a container.
IMPORTANT - Used oil must be disposed of in
conformity with current legislation. Under no
circumstances may it be disposed of in the
environment.
8.4.5
Charging the batteries (electric model)
To charge the batteries, proceed as described . Charge the batteries
when they are flat (check the charge indicator light).
Make sure all functions of the machine are turned off;
Turn the main switch to the OFF position;
Charge the battery.
8.4.6
Battery electrolyte level (electric model)
Top up the level of electrolyte in the batteries regularly with distilled
or demineralised water up to 10 mm below the elements.
If the battery is dry, you should contact an authorised service centre.
8.4.7
Battery maintenance
Keep all contacts and poles clean and dry;
Charge the batteries immediately after use;
If the machine is not used for a long period, charge the battery
before storing the machine and again just before using it;
Charging should take from 5 to 6 hours.
8.4.8
Replacing run-down batteries (electric model)
See procedure described in paragraph "Installation".
8.4.9
Cleaning and replacing the filter
According to the type of use, the filter must be cleaned by means of
the filter shaker. Use the relative control to deactivate suction while
cleaning the filter.
The filter should be cleaned at least once a week as described:
Remove the debris collection bin;
Detach the filter shaker;

Remove the filter shaker bar by unscrewing the wing
nuts;
