3. CONFIGURING THE CAMERA
a. Camera assembly
The EXTEL IP Camera can sit on a fl at surface or be wall-mounted using the bracket provided or mounted
on a tripod using the standard tripod fi tting located under the base. If the camera is not attached to its
support, ensure that the cables are secured. If the cables are not secured, the camera may be pulled off the
surface on which it is mounted and be damaged.
The camera is for indoor use only. Exposure to outdoor conditions may damage the camera and void your
guarantee.
Install the camera so that the lens is not exposed to direct sunlight. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight
will damage the CMOS sensor and will give a poor-quality image.
Wall-mounting
The mounting bracket supplied with your camera allows you to install your camera easily on vertical or
horizontal surfaces The camera support platform can tilt upwards or downwards to help you point the
camera at the zone you wish to monitor. You can also swivel the camera in all directions on the platform.
b. Confi guring using the ethernet cable
Step 1
Plug the supplied Ethernet cable into the RJ-45 connector at the rear of the camera.
Step 2
Plug the other end of the Ethernet cable into an available RJ-45 port on your ADSL ROUTER (if this is not
possible use an additional switch or HUB in order to connect your kit)
Step 3
Connect the power supply to the rear of the camera, then plug the power cable into a 230V AC electric
socket.
Make sure you only use the power adapter supplied with your camera. Using another adapter could be
dangerous and may damage the camera.
Step 4
Check that the green LED indicating the status of the Ethernet connection at the rear of the camera (RJ45
port) is on, indicating that there is a good connection to the local area network.
After a few seconds the light indicator (5 fi g.1) fl ashes and the camera initialises by carrying out a circuit
of automatic rotations.
Never force the head of the camera to rotate vertically or horizontally. You may damage the rotation
mechanism.
