3. APPLICATION SCOPE
The leaf vacuum unit type 521 is designed for collection of brush clippings, litter,
leaves, small garbage etc. Every other use can lead to danger, therefore never use
the leaf vacuum unit for any other purpose.
To prevent injuries, it is only allowed to aspirate any material -especially glass, stones,
metals and other solid and sharp objects- if all material is blown out safely into a
closed container.
Use only original VOTEX WHIRLWIND BV parts and accessories, as listed in chapter
8 of this manual. Accessories will be delivered with separate user guide and safety
instructions if so required.
4. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
4.1 General instructions
Read this handbook carefully before starting to use the machine. Follow all operation
guidelines and at all times respect the instructions hereunder.
Ensure that anybody other than yourselve who uses this machine, knows and respects
these instructions as well. Children and anybody who is not capable to safely operate
this machine, should never be allowed to use it.
1. Stickers and Markings in this manual and on the machine, provide important
messages for safety. Please respect and never remove these messages.
2. Wear suitable clothing, eye and ear protection. Avoid loose garments.
3. Never approach the machine before all rotating parts have come to a complete stop.
4. Use accessories only as designated and ensure good locking.
5. Check the machine entirely before and during each use. The machine should only be
used when all parts are properly functioning.
6. Refrain from use when damage occures; repair first.
7. Never exceed the herein indicated maximum operating speed of the machine.
8 Ensure proper maintenance following the guidelines in this book and common
guidelines for maintenance of agricultural machines.
9 Confine the use of this machine solely to the purpose as descibed before under
limitations for use (section 3).
10. Maintenance and repair activities should only be undertaken with the machine
switched off.
4.2 Mounting the machine at a rear panel or onto a truck or trailer
1. In case the unit is transported or used on a vehicle or trailer, it should be placed on a
flat surface and secured safely to prevent shifting.
2. At all times local regulations with regards to 'Vehicle rules' and 'Traffic law' -lights,
retroflectors, rounded triangle, etc.- should be respected.
3. In case the unit is suspended onto a tailboard, the mounting brackets (fig. A pos. 20)
should be adjusted on minimum breadth and tightened securely.
