Troubleshooting

Use the suggestions in the table below before calling for service to avoid service charges.
PROBLEM
Noise during operation
Noise when unit is off
Lights and fan blower do not
work
Fan blower does not work
Lights hum
Lights do not work but the
motor is working
Motor does not work but the
lights are working
Hood trips breaker
The hood is not venting
properly.
Some noise is normal due to vibration and air movement.
Excessive noise could indicate one of the following:
a) ductwork is too small / undersized
b) ductwork is too large / oversized
c) ductwork is loose
d) transition is too small or is loose
e) wood screws are not fully tightened
f) loose screws in trim parts, etc.
Check Installation Manual to verify that ductwork is the proper size. Tighten screws.
a) Backflow flap on outside of duct wall cap moves with the wind. This is normal.
a) Hood circuit breaker may be tripped. Reset breaker.
a) Power supply is insufficient.
b) Electrical wiring is incorrectly connected.

a) A slight hum is normal.
a) Halogen lights are blown. See "Halogen Light Replacement" on page 8.
b) The halogen lights are loose. Tighten the halogen lights.
a) The thermally protected system detects if the motor is too hot to operate and
shuts the motor down. The motor will function properly after the thermally
protected system cools down. See "Heat Sensor Protection" on page 5.
a) Electrical wiring is incorrectly connected.
b) Circuit is not sufficient.

a) The hood may be too high from the cook top.
b) The hood may not be centered above the cook top.
c) Make up air not sufficient.
d) The wind from opened windows or opened doors in the surrounding area is
affecting the ventilation of the hood. Close all the windows and doors to
eliminate the outside air flow.
e) Blockage in the duct opening or ductwork. Remove all blockage from the
duct-work or duct opening.
f) Duct length too long, too many elbows, "back to back" elbows, or too small
roof or wall cap, will all cause issues with air draw.
