3.2 Accelerator System

The accelerator system expands the range of speed of your glider. It is
activated by putting your foot on the bar, and accelerates the glider through a
reduction in the angle of the sail. The accelerator system is of great use and
very effective during a strong face wind. In order to use the speed accelerator
it is important to have enough ground clearance. Be aware that when applied,
the Angle of Attack is decreased and the wing is more dynamic with it's flying
characteristics.
It is important to have your accelerator system correctly rigged before take-off.
It must be long enough to pull down on the front risers while in normal flight,
but not so long that it fails to work effectively. The best way to start is to get
someone to hold the risers and harness taut while you adjust the bar so that it
can just be found with your foot during flight. Then test the full range of the
accelerator
in
ensuring that both risers are pulled evenly
during operation. Fine tuning can be
completed when you are back on the
ground.
We advise you not to use more than half the
accelerator's
travel
turbulence.
Inexperienced pilots are recommended not
to
use the accelerator system until they are
fully
accustomed to the glider.
Remember
that
conditions, the canopy will have a
greater tendency to collapse with full
accelerator applied.
