HEINE OMEGA
®
These instructions for use apply to the HEINE DV1 digital camera in
combination with the HEINE OMEGA
Please read and follow these instructions for use of and keep them
for future reference.
Intended Use
The optional DV1 is a digital camera that provides via a USB 2.0 interface
contactless high resolution digital images and a fast live stream. It is used as
an educational tool and documentation to show the examiner view to a larger
audience or for recording medical techniques for teaching. The DV1 presents
no images for diagnosis, pathological analysis, operation or classifi cation of
health or disease.

Setting up
Only connect devices to the camera, which correspond at least to the
standard of IEC 60950-1 Information technology devices. And as well
have a UL listing or a GS mark.
Technical requirements
To ensure a smooth data fl ow for the video recording the connected
computers must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Processor: Intel Dual Core 2.2 GHz
- Working memory: 2 GB
- Graphics card: 24 bit
- Operating system: Windows XP / 7 / 8 / 10
- Monitor: Resolution of 1280 x 1024 pixels or higher, refresh rate of at
least 60 hertz, colour depth, True Color (32 bit) colour calibrated
- DirectX 9.0c or higher
- USB 2.0 port (when using a footswitch another USB port is required)
Software Installation
Before fi rst use, the installation of the software and the camera driver is
necessary. Please follow the installation instructions that come in the support
area (see section „OMEGA 500 with DV1") of the website http://dv1.heine.com
500 with DV1
500 indirect ophthalmoscope.

Assembly
The following steps must be performed outside the patient environment.
Plug the USB cable into the mini USB port of the camera. Then connect the
USB cable to the overhead band of the headset (3). If you use the mPack as
the power source for OMEGA 500, please also attach the USB cable to the
rear head band (4). Fit the OMEGA 500 to the DV1 camera and adjust the
head band so it sits securely and comfortably. When doing so, ensure that
you have a horizontal view into the eyepiece of the OMEGA 500 with DV1, in
particular if you are looking at the ophthalmoscope loupe. Further information
on the operation and settings of the OMEGA 500 indirect ophthalmoscope
can be found in the instructions for use of this device.
Operation
The following steps must be performed or checked every time the
computer is restarted outside of the patient environment.
1. Start the computer
2. Connect the instrument to the power supply. Check the function by briefl y
turning on the device.
3. Connect the USB cable.
4. Open the programme IC Capture on the PC, preferably by clicking on the
corresponding confi guration fi le.
5. The DV1 digital camera is automatically detected by the computer.
Confi rm your selection with „OK".
6. If IC Capture was not started with the confi guration fi le, open the
appropriate confi guration fi le.
7. Set video compression.
8. Put on the instrument and adjust headband for a comfortable fi t.
9. Adjust focus using the focus selector switch (1). Then look at an object
that is approximately in working distance. Possibly a second person is
helpful for this setting.
A detailed description of the video and photo recording incl. the specifi ed
settings can be found in the installation instructions.
Video recording
1. Show toolbar or recording window
2. Start recording by clicking the record button.
3. Stop recording with stop button. The data are stored automatically in the
predefi ned directory.
Photo Shoot
1. Activate the video live window by clicking
2. Press spacebar to store the photo in the default folder.
Hygienic Reprocessing
Instructions on hygienic reprocessing must be adhered to, based on national
standards, laws and guidelines.
Classifi cation according to KRINKO: non-critical
Spaulding Classifi cation USA: non-critical
Allow the device to cool down before reprocessing.
Before cleaning, disconnect the device from the power sources.
In the event of suspected contamination, carry out hygienic preparation
of the instrument.
The device and its accessories are not sterile. Avoid touching with sterile
hands, areas or instruments.
The described cleaning and disinfection measures do not replace the
specifi c rules applicable for the establishment.
HEINE Optotechnik only approves the resources and procedures named
in these instructions for use.
Cleaning and disinfection may only be carried out by personnel with
suffi cient hygienic knowledge.
Observe the instructions of the manufacturer of the reprocessing media.
Do not use any spray disinfectant, or any dripping-wet or heavily-
foaming cloths. Do not prepare mechanically.
