1. Safety precautions
Read this manual carefully in order to use the Point Two jacket, which is fitted with
airbags designed to keep the spinal column supported and absorb shock.
CAUTION
Failure to follow the instruction could lead to your jacket malfunctioning or
reduce its effectiveness.
• The Point Two jacket must fit your size.
• Do not remove any part of the Helite trigger system.
• Once used, the CO
canister must be replaced with a fresh canister of the
2
same capacity.
• Remove any pointed objects such as pens, pins, glasses and mobile phones from
your clothing before putting on the Point Two air jacket.
• Detach the jacket from the saddle before dismounting to avoid accidental
inflation. If you forget to unfasten yourself before dismounting and not enough
force is exerted, you will not be released and will still be attached to the saddle. If
the horse moves off, push yourself back forcefully to avoid being dragged off.
• Check that your jacket is in good condition, ie no rips or tears, before each use.
• To ensure that your jacket is working correctly, we recommend that you take it to
an authorised dealer once a year for an inspection or call 01403 754007.
• Store your Point Two jacket on a clothes hanger. Do not fold it or hang anything
else on top of it. Keep away from high temperatures and humidity.
• Do not sew or stick anything onto the Point Two jacket as it could pierce the
airbags and prevent them from working properly.
• Make sure the lanyard is firmly clipped to the saddle attachment, which is fitted correctly.
Visit our website www.point-two.co.uk for a video on how to correctly fit your jacket.
IMPORTANT
Every ProAir jacket is sold with a spare canister, to give riders the
opportunity to experience a test inflation of their new garment. It is highly
4
recommended riders take advantage of this, so they know how the system
works and how the jacket feels prior to a real incident.
2. General information
• The jacket is worn like a normal jacket when horse riding. The user clips the
lanyard to the saddle attachment. When the rider falls or is thrown from his/her
horse, the lanyard linking him/her to the saddle tightens and forces out the key
ball bearing which in turn disengages the release pin. The CO
into the airbags reaching full inflation in 0.1 seconds.
• After inflation, CO
is automatically discharged through a decompression valve
2
in the jacket. You may feel slightly restricted for a few seconds, but as the air is
let out, the pressure gradually decreases. If you experience breathing difficulties,
disengage the buckles in order to ease the pressure.
• The Point Two airbag jacket absorbs shocks and offers the collar of the neck and
trunk support, thus reducing the risk of over bending the spinal column.
• The Point Two jacket cannot guarantee the rider absolute safety. The jacket does
not protect the rider from all injuries. The jacket offers additional protection which
in competition must be worn on top of traditional protective riding gear (type EN
13158, for example). For BE the Point Two air jacket must be worn with a Beta
approved body protector. We recommend one of a non moulded type*
* Moulded type protection may restrict the Point Two from providing optimum
protection.
• Considerable force, around 35kg, is required to activate the trigger mechanism,
so the Helite system should not be activated during normal use.
• Should the lanyard linking the saddle to the release pin catch on any obstruction,
accidental activation could occur.
• If the horse falls and the rider stays in the saddle, the Helite system cannot be
activated until the lanyard is extended fully in order to release the trigger system.
• The Point Two jacket does not protect areas which are not covered by the airbags.
• The CO
canister is not re-usable.
