Only use a complete universal joint shaft guard provided with securing chains. They
must be fastened to the tractor and leaf vacuum machine in such a way that the
guard cannot turn with the shaft. Take into account all angles that the universal joint
shaft may conceivably form. Both the tractor and the machine must be provided at
the shaft ends with solid guards overlapping the universal joint shaft guard by at least
50 mm.
The universal joint shaft must not be too long. To determine the proper shaft
length, the upward movements and swinging of the machine and the turning
inwards and outwards of the top bar must be taken into account. For
mounting, shortening and maintenance, see the user's manual of the
universal joint shaft!
6. Working with the leaf vacuum machine.
After the initial 8 running hours, retighten all bolt connections (bolt-
connection tightening torques are stated at the end of this manual).
6.1. PTO speed.
The PTO speed indicated on the machine must never be exceeded!
The standard delivery of leaf vacuum machines 550 and 570 PTO includes a 3.3-
metre wear-resistant polyurethane hose and a round suction pipe with adjustable
handle. This handle can be adjusted to the required body length and be adjusted
for left-handed or right-handed operation. When being used, the hose is suspended
from the hose-suspension arm so that when the handle is properly adjusted you can
work upright. The hose-suspension arm can be turned in 5 different positions so that
the hose is always perfectly supported. During suction operations you move the
suction pipe back and forth over the leaves etc. so as to obtain an even intake. If
the mouth of the suction pipe is sucked down to the ground, you can quite easily get
it unstuck by pushing the handle down.
To check the fan casing or if the suction hose is clogged up, the swing-clear hose
connection on the fan can be easily opened to gain access.
Never open the hose connection while the fan is still running.
The hose connection can be opened by loosening the hinge locking pin at the
plastic cross-shaped knob. (See photo below)
This construction is such that it takes more time to loosen the knob than the fan
needs to come to a standstill after it has been switched off.
