OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
DL-151AN USB ANEMOMETER DATA LOGGER

INTENDED USE
The battery-operated data logger DL-151AN measures and stores wind speed data. A maximum
of 32,000 readings can be stored. The data logger is connected to a computer and is read just
like a standard USB storage device. The data can then be analysed using computer software
(included). Space-saving wall mounting is an option. Power is supplied by a lithium battery.
With the protective cover fitted, the product is splash-proof and can be used indoors and
outdoors. The logger may only be operated when its housing is fully closed. Do not operate the
data logger if it is open or if the battery compartment has been opened. Measurements under
adverse ambient conditions, such as environments with dust, flammable gases, vapours or
solvents are not permitted. Observe all safety instructions!
For safety and approval purposes (CE), you must not rebuild and/or modify this product. If you
use the product for purposes other than those described above, the product may be damaged.
In addition, improper use can cause hazards such as short circuiting, fire, electric shock etc.
Read the instructions carefully and keep them. Make this product available to third parties only
together with its operating instructions.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Read the operating instructions carefully and especially observe the safety
information. If you do not follow the safety instructions and information
on proper handling in this manual, we assume no liability for any resulting
personal injury or damage to property. Such cases will invalidate the warranty/
guarantee.
a) Persons / Product
• The device is not a toy. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
• Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. These may become
dangerous playing material for children.
• Protect the product from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, strong jolts, high
humidity, moisture, flammable gases, vapours and solvents.
• Do not place the product under any mechanical stress.
• If it is no longer possible to operate the product safely, take it out of operation and
protect it from any accidental use. Safe operation can no longer be guaranteed if
the product:
- is visibly damaged,
- is no longer working properly,
- has been stored for extended periods in poor ambient conditions or
- has been subjected to any serious transport-related stresses.
• Please handle the product carefully. Jolts, impacts or a fall even from a low height
can damage the product.
• Also observe the safety and operating instructions of any other devices which are
connected to the product.
b) (Rechargeable) batteries
• Correct polarity must be observed while inserting the (rechargeable) batteries.
• (Rechargeable) batteries should be removed from the device if it is not used
for a long period of time to avoid damage through leaking. Leaking or damaged
(rechargeable) batteries might cause acid burns when in contact with skin, therefore
use suitable protective gloves to handle corrupted (rechargeable) batteries.
• (Rechargeable) batteries must be kept out of reach of children. Do not leave
(rechargeable) batteries lying around, as there is risk, that children or pets swallow
them.
• (Rechargeable) batteries must not be dismantled, short-circuited or thrown into fire.
Never recharge non-rechargeable batteries. There is a risk of explosion.
c) Miscellaneous
• Consult an expert when in doubt about operation, safety or connection of the
device.

INSERTING / REPLACING BATTERIES
1. Carefully remove the transparent protective cover from the device.
2. Remove the winged wheel from the data logger. Fully unscrew the locking ring in the
direction of the arrow and remove the wheel.
3. Open the housing using a pointed object (e.g. small screwdriver etc). Lift open the housing
in the direction of the arrow. (see Illustration 1)
4. Pull the data logger from the housing. (see Illustration 2)
5. Turn the data logger around and insert the battery into the battery compartment, observing the
correct polarity. Observe the polarity markings in the battery compartment. (see Illustration 3)
6. Put the data logger back into the housing until it engages. (see Illustration 4)

7. Put the wheel back on the data logger and screw the locking ring on tightly. The data logger
is now ready for programming.
The battery needs to be replaced when both displays fail to light up upon
starting a measurement, or when the (yellow) LED "ALM" starts to flash two
times, at intervals of 10 seconds.
Data that is stored will not be lost when changing the battery or when a device
failure occurs during the recording.
SOFTWARE/DRIVER INSTALLATION
1. Place the CD in the CD-Rom drive of your computer. The installation will start automatically.
If not, call up your CD-Rom directory and open the file "SETUP.EXE".
2. Follow the instructions in the dialogue window and complete the installation.
3. Please note the operating instructions on the CD for further information.
DATA LOGGER SETUP
1. Connect the data logger to a free USB port of your computer and start the software.
2. Follow the instructions of the software manual to get the data logger recognised by the
software.
3. After the data logger has been recognised and added, you can set it up following the
instructions in the software manual.
STARTING MEASUREMENT
Do not touch the wheel and do not insert any objects into the wheel mount's
openings, as the wheel may be damaged otherwise.
Prior to data recording in the data logger, put the protection cover on tightly.
1. You can start the measurement automatically or manually using the key on the data logger.
Set your selection in the relevant software menu.
2. Note that automatic measurement will start once the relevant setting has been changed in
the software.
3. Press the data logger key to start the measurement manually.
4. After the preset recording rate has been reached, the recording is stopped automatically.
5. Stop the measurement manually by pressing the data logger key.
6. The recording can also be terminated at any time by early read-out on the computer before
the recording is complete.
7. When the data logger's memory is full, the measurement is terminated automatically.
