Preparations for connection and installation
• The device must be voltage-free during installation and connection.
Turn the power off and ensure that none of the poles is live by removing the electric
circuit's fuse or switching off at the circuit breaker. Secure it against unauthorised
reconnection, e.g., with a danger sign. In addition, switch off the associated ground
fault circuit interrupter (breaker).
• Check that the mains cable is free of current e.g. with an appropriate tester.
• The motion detector is intended solely for installation in a suspended room ceiling
(e.g. in a ceiling panel).
• The product must be installed out of the reach of children.
Installation and Connection
Observe the chapter "Safety instructions" and the chapter "Prepara-
tions for connection and installation".
• First, switch off the mains voltage for the existing controller of the "master" motion
detector for all poles.
• The "master" motion detector (2) is to be connected to the controller (1) as the fi rst
motion detector.
Connect the "slave" motion detector (4 or 6) each time with its connection cable to
the jack that remains open; see fi gure above.
A total of 6 motion detectors can be connected to the controller (1 "master" and 5
"slave" motion detectors).
• For mounting the motion detector, a suitably large ceiling cut-out is needed (see
chapter "Technical Data").
The material thickness, e.g. of a suspended ceiling, may be somewhere between 5
and 25 mm.
• Step 1: Fold the two metal brackets vertically
upward as shown in the fi gure to the right.
Step 2: Then place the motion detector in
the prepared mounting hole.
Step 3: Pull the metal brackets downward
with the integrated springs and secure the
motion detector.
• After the mains voltage is fi rst switched on for the controller, the connected load is
switched on for about 30 seconds. In this time, the PIR sensor in the motion detec-
tor adjusts itself to the existing temperatures in the monitoring area.
Then the load is switched off and the motion detector is ready for use.
If the PIR sensor recognises temperature changes in the monitoring area, the load
connected to the controller is activated.
To set the switched-on period and adjust the brightness and sensitivity, see the next
chapter.
Settings on the "Slave" Motion Detector
On the "slave" motion detector, after opening the housing (see printed "open"), one
dial is visible.
Setting the sensitivity
This knob is used to set the level of changes in temperature in the detection area from
which a switching process is triggered.
On turning it to the left, the motion detector will activate even for relatively small
changes in temperature; turn it to the right, and it will activate only for greater changes
in temperature.

With this function, you can also control the range of the PIR sensor (e.g. a person who
walks through the monitoring area is recognised only at a closer proximity to the PIR
sensor if the sensitivity is reduced).
The sensitivity can be set separately on each motion detector ("master" or
"slave").
Settings on the "Master" Motion Detector
For this, see the operating instructions of the "master" motion detector (Sygonix order
number 33988W).
Testing the reception area
As long as the reception area of the PIR sensor
was not limited by the provided plastic covering,
the diameter of the reception area on the ground
for a mounting height of 3 m is 8 m.
As previously explained in the chapter "Function
of the motion detector", the PIR sensor does not
react to the motion of an object, but rather only
if this object exhibits a different temperature than
the background.
Proceed as follows to test:
• Move the brightness control dial on the "master" motion detector to the "TEST" posi-
tion.
• Move into the desired area of the room.
• If the motion detector recognises a change in temperature, the load connected to
the controller is switched on for approx. 3 seconds.
• The PIR sensor can, by turning or being pulled out, be directed toward within certain
limits, e.g. toward an entrance door.
• When you have concluded the test, put the dial for the brightness setting on the
"master" motion detector back in its original position.

Maintenance and Cleaning

The product does not require any maintenance and should never be opened or disas-
sembled for any reason. Maintenance or repairs may only be performed by qualifi ed
personnel.
Clean the diffusing panel of the motion detector occasionally from dust or sediment;
use only a dry, clean and soft cloth.
Disposal
Please dispose of the product, when it is no longer of use, according to the
current statutory requirements.
