Setting the brightness control
TEST
This knob allows the switching threshold to be set, i.e. the ambient brightness at
which the motion switch is activated.
Turning the dial counter clockwise to the left, in the direction of the moon symbol,
means the motion detector activates when it is darker; turning it clockwise to the
right, in direction of the sun symbol, activates the motion detector in brighter condi-
tions.
The position "TEST" is used to check the detection range (brightness detection is de-
activated; the on-time for the connection L is approx. 3 seconds).
Setting the sensitivity
This knob is used to set the level of changes in temperature in the detection area from
which a switching process is triggered.
On turning it to the left, the motion detector will activate even for relatively small
changes in temperature; turn it to the right, and it will activate only for greater changes
in temperature.
With this function, you can also control the range of the PIR sensor (e.g. a person who
walks through the monitoring area is recognised only at a closer proximity to the PIR
sensor if the sensitivity is reduced).
The sensitivity can be adjusted not only on the "master" motion detector, but
also on each "slave" motion detector.
The setting applies in each case only for the motion detector on which you
change it.
Testing the reception area
As long as the reception area of the PIR sensor
was not limited by the provided plastic covering,
the diameter of the reception area on the ground
for a mounting height of 3 m is 8 m.
As previously explained in the chapter "Function
of the motion detector", the PIR sensor does not
react to the motion of an object, but rather only
if this object exhibits a different temperature than
the background.
Proceed as follows to test:
• Move the brightness control dial to the "TEST" position.
• Move into the desired area of the room.
• If the motion detector recognises a change in temperature, the load connected to
the controller is switched on for approx. 3 seconds.
• The PIR sensor can, by turning or being pulled out, be directed toward within certain
limits, e.g. toward an entrance door.
• When you have concluded the test, put the dial for the brightness setting back in its
original position.
Timer Operation
For the use of this function, it is necessary for one (or more) button(s) to be connected
to the controller.
If you press the button twice in quick succession, the load connected to the controller
stays on for 6 hours. Then the controller reverts to the normal operating function; the
PIR sensor is active again.
This function can be used, for example, if the staircase or corridor light needs to re-
main on for a longer time.
If the switched-on duration of 6 hours needs to be ended early, press the button once.
The controller reverts to the normal operating function; the PIR sensor is active again.

Troubleshooting
The connected device is not switched on
• Check the dial for the brightness regulation on the "master" motion detector.
• Make sure that the mains voltage is available for the controller.
• If one or more lights is connected to the controller, check the light bulb.
The connected load is also switched on/off without recognisable movement in
the reception area
• If one or more lights is connected to the controller, these may not lie in the detection
range of the PIR sensor.
Otherwise the PIR sensor recognises the lights, due to the build-up of heat, as a
temperature change in the reception area.
• When the background temperatures are colder, the temperature difference, e.g. of a
moving person, is greater than in summer. Thus, the achievable range varies.
If necessary, reduce the sensitivity setting on the respective "master" or "slave" mo-
tion detector.
The connected device is not switched off
• If an ongoing temperature change occurs in the reception area (e.g. a moving person
who works in the reception area), the set switched-on period restarts with every rec-
ognised temperature change.
Change the direction of the PIR sensor or limit the reception area with the provided
plastic cover.
• If necessary, reduce the sensitivity of all motion detectors or set them correctly.
Maintenance and Cleaning
The product is maintenance-free for you; you should never take it apart (except for
mounting/connecting tasks as described in these operating instructions). Mainte-
nance or repairs may only be performed by qualifi ed personnel.
Clean the diffusing panel of the motion detector occasionally from dust or sediment;
use only a dry, clean and soft cloth.
Disposal
Please dispose of the product, when it is no longer of use, according to the
current statutory requirements.
