WARNING:
These components are electrical devices. They must
be installed correctly to ensure proper operation and
to prevent shock or fire. Carefully follow all of the
installation instructions and read these important
warnings.
To minimize the danger of fire from sustained
electrical arcing if the heating cable is damaged or
improperly installed, and to comply with the
requirements of national electrical codes,
ground-fault equipment protection must be used on
each heating cable branch circuit. Arcing may not be
stopped by conventional circuit protection.
Component approvals and performance are based
on the use of specified parts only. Do not substitute
parts and do not use vinyl electrical tape.
The black heating-cable core is conductive and can
short. It must be properly insulated and kept dry.
The conductive layer of this heating device must be
connected to a suitable grounding terminal.
The installer should apply the name place label to
the surface of the junction box.
Keep kit components and heating cable dry before
and during installation.

Additional Materials Required
UL Listed junction box suitable for the location with a
clearance hole for 1/2-inch conduit or 1/2-inch NPT
threaded hub. The minimum size of the junction box is
4.7 x 4.7 x 3.5" (12 x 12 x 9cm).
For heating cable with no outer-jacket, you must use a
metallic junction box to ensure proper grounding.
Your application may require additional accessories for
roof and gutter de-icing applications.
Tools Required
Needle nose pliers, Diagonal cutters, Adjustable wrench,
Pen, Utility knife, Screwdriver, Propane torch or heat gun.
K
Keep components and heating cable ends dry before
and during installation.
Damaged bus wires can overheat or short. Do not
break braid or bus wire strands when scoring the
jacket or core.
Bus wires will short if they contact each other. Keep
bus wires separated.
Heat-damaged components can short. Use a heat
gun or torch with a low-heat flame and move flame
often to avoid overheating, blistering, or charring the
heat shrinkable tubes. Avoid over-heating other
components. Replace any damaged components.
Use only fire-resistant insulation materials such as a
fiberglass wrap. Leave these installation instructions
with the user for future reference.
The cable should not be twisted during installation.
De-energize all power circuits before installation or
servicing. The heating cable should not be
embedded.
CAUTION: Charring or burning the heat-shrinkable tubes in
this kit will produce fumes that may cause eye, skin, nose,
and throat irritation.
