Causes and remedies when malfunction occurs
When experiencing malfunction please check that the installation instruction and
adjustments were carried out in accordance with these instructions.
Information about material, temperature and flow direction are to be verified.
The conditions of usage must also correspond to these instructions, the data sheet
and the technical information given on the ID brass tag.
Troubleshooting
Fault diagnosis
Effects
No flow
Valve closed
Valve not sufficiently open
Dirty filters
Blocked pipes
Incorrect valve / Kvs
coefficient selected
Valve ball stuck
The valve ball is jammed in
the seat due to deposit or
solid particles in the fluid
Leakage at stem
Stem seal leaking
Internal leakage is
Seat and plug leaking
too high when
valve is closed
Excessive noise
Seat and plug dirty
Fluid flow noises or cavitation
Cause
Remedial action /
Minimizing risk
Piping stressed
Reduce pressure
beyond permitted
and stress, change
limits, recoil forces,
piping position,
pressure surges,
install
valve used as fixing
compensators,

Improper transport,
Replace valve,
bending stress too
ensure that piping

Remedial action /
Minimizing risk
Open valve (using actuator)
Open valve (using actuators)
Clean / replace filters
(only when system is free off
pressure!)
Check piping system
Replace valve with one of
greater Kvs coefficient
Demount actuator and move
repeatedly the valve stem by
the means of a wrench.
If problem still occurs, replace
valve
Replace valve

Reduce differential pressure
or mount valve with higher
Kvs
