For stainless steel enclosure up to 40A, is advisable to dismount the switch body from the bottom
plate in order to wiring the switch contacts. When the switch is wired, take and put-back in place
inside the enclosure and be sure that all screws are tightened as table 4, and check carefully
the screws to fix the switch on the bottom plate.

5. Installation

Installation shall be carried out by suitably-trained personnel in accordance with the
applicable code of practice (e.g. IEC EN 60079-14) and the provisions of the national
safety and accident prevention regulations and this instruction manual.
5.1 Safety Instructions
Use the switch only for its intended purpose. Incorrect or impermissible use or noncompliance with these instructions
invalidates our warranty provision. No changes to the switch impairing its explosion protection are permitted. Fit
and operate the switch only if it is clean and undamaged.
The contact element must be replaced after each short-circuit in the switch main circuit.
This is because the device is hermetically sealed and the state of the switching contacts
cannot be checked. Any damage can invalidate the Ex protection.

5.3 Terminal fitting
2,5
All wiring must be carried out in accordance with the code of practice and installation standards in hazardous
2,5
areas like IEC EN 60079-14. Use the correct size of tool and torque (see manufacturer documents) for tightening
the terminal clamps (screwdriver or spanner). Creepage and clearance distances shall comply with IEC/EN 60079-
2,4
7 (table 1), electrical parameters shall not exceed the maximum allowed.
5
Note: Minimum creepage and clearance distances that shall be maintained to conductive parts or other live parts
are those of Material group I (CTI = 600):
250 V
400 V
500 V
630 V

5.4 Earth-Stud Terminals
The external terminal earth provide effective connection of conductor with a cross-sectional area of at least
M20x1,5mm
4mm² and is located in the following place :
See Figure 5 - Stainless Steel – Aluminium - GRP
M20x1,5mm
ISOLATORS-EX[GD]shall be subject to a routine dielectric streght test of 1000 V + 2U rms or
1500 V rms, whichever is the greater applied for a period of 60 s as required by clause 6.1
of IEC EN 60079-7. Alternatively, a test shall be carried out at 1.2 times the test voltage, but
M20x1,5mm
maintained for at least 100 ms.
5.5 Cable Glands
M20x1,5mm
Use only Ex e and/or Ex t IIIC approved glands (as relevant). Certified cable glands can only be fitted with a
suitable IP rating commensurate with IP rating of the enclosure.
Ensure that all the cable-glands used, shall be suitable for the cable in order to prevent self-loosening and ensure
M20x1,5mm
permanent sealing to avoid moisture ingress.
Refer to the instructions of cable glands manufacturer.
5.5.1 Blanking Plugs
Any unused entries must be blanked using a suitably approved blanking plugs with separate certificate.
5.6 Drain / Breathing valves
Drain/breathing valves have ATEX / IECEx separate certificate. Installation and maintenance shall be done as
prescribed by manufacturer documents. Can be use only Drain/Breathing valves supplied by SCAME.

6. Servicing and maintenance and repairing

Inspection and maintenance of this equipment shall be carried out by suitably trained
personnel in accordance with the applicable code of practice (e.g. EN 60079-17 and EN
60079-14). Repair of this equipment shall be carried out by suitably trained personnel in
accordance with the applicable code of practice (e.g. EN 60079-19). During servicing, it is
particularly important to check those components upon which the type of protection depends.
6.1 Routine Maintenance
Routine maintenance is required in order to guarantee the efficiency of the enclosure and to maintain the
required level of protection.
Ambient
1) Check that the lid seal is in place and not damaged each time the enclosure is opened
Temperature
2) Check that all the lid fixing screws are in place and secured each time the enclosure is closed
3) Check that the mounting screws/bolts are tight and free of corrosion annually
-20°C / +60°C
4) Check the security of all cable glands annually
-20°C / +60°C
5) Check the enclosure for damage annually
6) In zones with presence of combustible dusts it is necessary to periodically clean the upper surface of the box,
limiting the depth of the layer to less than 5 mm.
-40°C / +60°C
6.2 Resistance to chemical agent
Consideration should be given to the environment in which these enclosures are to be used to determine the
suitability of these materials to withstand any corrosive agents that may be present.
