Installation Instructions:
Electrical System for Towing Hitch
Installing the electrical kit
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. If necessary, remove the following covers and panels:
Remove the tail lights

Covering of the left side of the luggage trunk

3. Starting outside the vehicle, lay the cable end through the cable leadthrough (Fig. 1/1) to the
inside.
4. Insert the rubber grommet into the cable leadthrough (Fig. 1/1).
5. Fit the socket gasket and connect the cable harness to the socket housing in accordance
with the pin assignment plan and push the rubber grommet against the socket.
6. Screw the socket onto the holding plate (Fig. 1/6) using the supplied screws.
7. Secure the cable harness using the supplied cable ties.
Connecting the tail light
8. Lay the cable end marked "left" to the left-hand tail light (Fig. 1/2) and the cable end marked
"right" along the rear end plate to the right-hand tail light (Fig. 1/7).
9. Unplug the connectors from the tail lights and connect them to their counterparts on the cable
harness. Plug the residual plugs back into the tail lights. Make sure that the plugs lock firmly
into place.
Connecting the trailer control module
10. Plug the 12-pin plug into the trailer control module.
11. Fasten the trailer control module (Fig. 1/3) to the left-hand side of the luggage trunk using
some velcro tape. Make sure it is securely fastened!
12. Connect the brown wires with the eyelet to the vehicle's ground point (Fig. 1/4).
13. Only for 13-pin trailer socket:
Using the 3-pin connector (Fig. 1/5) for the constant plus extension kit, the functions
"Constant plus", "Charge lead" and "Ground for charge lead" can be retrofitted.
The constant plus extension kit is available in specialist shops under the Westfalia
part no. 300 025 300 113.
