Functional Description
Area of Application
Assembly
KSR bypass level indicators operate according to the princi-
ple of communicating vessel. Thibypass-chamber contains a
float with a built-in permanent magnet, which rises and falls
with the liquid level. The magnetic field triggers optical (12)
and electrical (11) level indicators or magnetic switches (10)
mounted to bypass chamber. These options are factory
mounted to customer specifications.
The principle structure is shown in fig. 1.
Customer-specific versions have been produced to order.
Bypass level indicators monitor the level of liquid media.
All the materials of the bypass pipe and the float must be
resistant to the medium being monitored. The maximum
values specified on the type plate may not be exceeded. The
instructions in chapter Notes as well as the specifications on
the respective type plates must be observed to ensure trou-
ble-free operation.
Warning!
Bypass level indicators must only be used for applications
where pressure and temperature do not exceed the limits as
given on the tag plate. Exceeding these limits may lead to a
malfunction or irrepairable damage to the Bypass level indi-
cator and possible harm to persons or goods.
Aligning the magnetic roller diplay
Before installation, align the magnetic roller diplay and any
installed magnetic switches. To do this, slowly move the
supplied float from bottom to top on the magnetic roller di-
play and then back down again.
Installed magnetic switches must be aligned on the basis of
the same principle. In the case of bypass level indicators
with insulation and magnetic roller diplay with plexiglas at-
tachments, the float must be moved up and down inside the
tube.
For magnetic roller displays with flushing connections, these
connections must have an air - tight seal
Mounting the Bypass Level Indicator
Mount the bypass level indicator on the vessel to be moni-
tored with the appropriate process connections (1). Gaskets
(2), screws (3), washers (4) and nuts (5) suitable for the pro-
cess connection must be used for assembly. Choose a gas-
ket with a suitable corrosion resistance. Shut-off fittings
should be mounted between the vessel and the bypass if
necessary
Note
In order to guarantee safe, reliable operation, bypass level
indicators which are operated at medium temperature below
- 20°C must be insulated and a plexiglass attachments must
be fitted to the magnetic roller display.
