– Select Connect manually if you always want to establish and end the connection
to the Internet manually. If you have a time-based tariff this will save you high
connection charges. How to establish a connection manually is described on
page 28.

Click on Test Settings to check the Internet connection. The router will attempt to
connect to the Internet. Any Internet connection already in existence will be closed
first.

Confirm your entry with Next >.
In the next step the basic settings you have made are shown for you to check.

If you want to make changes to the settings, click on Back.
ì
If you want to confirm the settings, click on Finish to close the basic setup wizard.
You will then be taken automatically to the start page for the Security Setup Wizard.
Please refer to the relevant sections of the user guide on the supplied CD. We strongly
recommend carrying out the security settings.
The Gigaset SE551 WLAN dsl/cable is now configured and ready to connect to the Inter-
net.
Connecting and configuring additional PCs (optional)
Once you have configured one PC as described above you can connect additional PCs to
the Gigaset SE551 WLAN dsl/cable. You will need an additional cable for each PC you
want to connect via cable. For the wireless connection of additional PCs, you will need
a wireless network adapter, e.g. a Gigaset USB Stick 108.
Wireless
ì
Install wireless network adapters in each other PC as described in the corresponding
user guide, making sure that the SSID of all wireless network components (Gigaset
SE551 WLAN dsl/cable and network adapter) is identical. If you have not changed
the SSID in the Basic Setup Wizard, the default setting is ConnectionPoint.

Set up the network for each newly connected PC. This can be done by following the
steps described on page 24 and page 25.
Wired
ì
Connect the network card of each additional PC to a free LAN port (LAN1 – LAN4)
on the Gigaset SE551 WLAN dsl/cable using an Ethernet cable.
ì
Make sure that the corresponding LAN LED on the front of your Gigaset SE551 WLAN
dsl/cable flashes.
ì
Set up the network for each newly connected PC. This can be done by following the
steps described on page 24 and page 25.
ì
Reboot the additional PCs.
