Filling the fuel tank)
1. Clean around the tank cap.
2. Take the cap off (fig. 1, rif. 11) and fill the tank up to about 15
mm from the top with clean petrol.
3. Replace cap and clean any spillage
ATTENTION:
1. Always handle fuel with maximum care.
2. Refuel outdoors using a clean funnel to prevent spilling.
Wipe up any spilled petrol.
3. Refuel only after turning the engine off and when engine
is cold. Do not fill beyond 15 mm from top of fuel tank as fuel
expands when hot.
4. When filling tank, keep far away from open flames and
sparks and DO NOT smoke!
5. Do not mix oil with gasoline. (See engine manual for fur-
ther information on oil and fuel).
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
NOTE: Your lawnmower is equipped with a safety device (Sys-
tem 2) which kills the engine and stops the cutting blade when-
ever the operator lets go of the handle.
ATTENTION: Never leave the mower unattended.
When the engine is already warm, it is not necessary to move
the throttle lever to the START
engine.
1. Place mower on the lawn and, if possible, cut on a level sur-
face.
2. Check the height of the grass and, then, set the cutting height.
3. Cutting height adjustment (you must do this with the motor
switched OFF).
a) Six settings are available.
b) For easier adjustment, lift the housing up so that the wheel
does not touch the ground.
c) Squeeze adjustment lever Fig. 2) towards the wheel and
move to the desired setting.
d) Ensure the lever slots firmly into the chosen notch.
e) Adjust all wheels to the same setting.
4. Check that the high tension wire is on the spark plug (fig. 1, rif.
12)
5. Move the throttle lever (fig. 3, rif. 1) to the START
6. Squeeze the System 2 lever (fig. 1, rif 2) towards the handle,
slowly pull starter handle (fig. 1, rif. 4) until cord is stretched
tight and then pull hard to start the engine.
7. When the engine is running, move the throttle lever slightly
backwards to the
smoothly.
8. Squeeze the traction lever (fig. 1, rif. 1) towards the handles
and the mower will start moving forward and cut the grass.
9. In order to vary the ground speed of your mower, just move
the shift lever (fig. 3, rif. 2).
Before shifting to another gear, stop the mower and make sure
the traction lever is disengaged, so that the gearbox will not
be damaged.
10. To stop the traction or to pull the mower backwards, let go of
the traction lever.
11. To stop the engine, select the lower speed and let go of the
System 2 lever.

DURING OPERATION

Keep people and animals away from the cutting area (fig. 4). Be-
fore operation, clear the cutting area of all foreign objects (fig. 4).
Operate only with either bag or protections in position (fig. 5).
Keep hands and feet away from the chute door and the blades
under the deck (fig. 6 and 7).
The grassbag material is capable of stopping most forms of debris
(stones, gravel, etc.) which could be thrown out by the blade. lt
is essential that the grassbag is checked periodically for damage
or wear, in which case it should be replaced Immediately with an
original IBEA grassbag.
Leaf collection
Your mower may also be used to collect leaves:
1. The grassbag must be correctly mounted
2. The height of cut must be adjusted to the same height, or
slightly higher than the layer of leaves.
The blade will create an air vacuum which lifts the leaves and
sucks them into the grassbag.
MAINTENANCE
ATTENTION: Never service or repair the mower until the blade
and engine have stopped and you have disconnected the high
tension wire from the spark plug (fig. 1, rif 12).
Always wear gloves during maintenance operations.
NOTE: Should you need to adjust the shift lever or to replace the
belt, you should take your lawnmower to your authorised IBEA
dealer.
Servicing throttle cable and spark plug
Please follow the instructions contained in the enclosed manual
supplied by engine manufacturer.
Servicing the air cleaner (fig. 8)
Remove cover and lift off air cleaner assembly.
Foam element: Clean every 25 hours. Wash in detergent and water
and dry thoroughly.
Paper element: Clean every 100 hours. Tap it gently to remove
dust. If excessively dirty, wash in detergent and water and dry
thoroughly. Replace with new paper element if necessary.
NOTE: Operating the engine without filters or with damaged
filters will allow dirt to enter the engine, causing rapid engine
wear. This type of damage is not covered under warranty.
NOTE: Operations in dusty conditions may require more fre-
quent maintenance than above description.
ATTENTION:
DO NOT use petroleum solvent to clean paper element.
DO NOT oil paper element.
DO NOT use pressurized air to clean dry paper element.
Drainage of the fuel tank
1. Stop the engine and disconnect the high tension wire from
spark plug.
2. Unscrew the fuel tank cap.
3. Using a siphon, pump the petrol from the tank into a suitable
container.
