GENERAL
In many garden ponds, it is necessary to add an air generator to obtain a good biological environ-
ment, in which fish and plants thrive. Aeration gives oxygen and keeps the water moving, through
which an optimal bacterial development and a proper balance in the pond become possible.
SUMMER PERIOD
Especially in the summer period, with the rise in water temperature, a shortage of oxygen often
develops. When fish come to the surface for air, it points to an oxygen shortage in the water.
Aeration of the water brings relief.
WINTER PERIOD
Often, fish die during the winter period when garden ponds freeze over. Especially in small and
shallow ponds, the danger is great that suffocation will occur after the pond freezes over. Aeration
gives oxygen, but also prevents the pond from completely freezing over.
INSTRUCTIONS
With the help of the Velda Silenta Pro Air Generator Set, you can aerate your pond in a simple
manner and at a relatively low cost. The air stone supplied along should be placed 30 to 100 cm
below water level, subject to the pump model. Always place the air pumps 300 and 500 Pro in a dry
place (for example, in a garage).The air pumps 1200 to 6000 are rainwater proof.
MAINTENANACE
Although all the Velda Silenta Pro aeration pumps are of the highest quality, it is advisable to
service the pumps once a year to ensure their life and air production. Below you will find a number
of tips for this yearly maintenance.
l The maintenance of the air pumps includes not only replacing the air filter and cleaning the
inside, but also replacing the membranes and membrane housings.
l The air hose can be dug in, however, you should avoid to throttle the hose. The hose can be
lengthened to a maximum distance of 20 metres. Make enquiries about small connecting
pieces, T-connections and tap pieces at the specialized trade.
l To prevent formation of water of condensation and moisture in the air pumps 300 and 500 Pro,
the one-way valve is installed in a place in the hose at a distance of ca 50 cm from the air pump.
The arrow indicates the direction of the airflow.
REPAIR SET
If with the lapse of time the air yield should decrease, this can be simply restored to the original
level with the help of a repair set. This repair set is to be had at the specialized trade. It is strongly
recommended to replace all these parts at the same time.
