USER MANUAL LEDS220 011
The LUX knob is used to set the motion detector's light sensitivity, i.e.
the light intensity at which it is activated. (Fig 10) This is very fl exible.
If you turn the knob fully to the left (-), the sensor will be activated
when it starts to get dark. If you turn it fully to the right (+), it will not
react until it becomes almost completely dark.
CHANGING THE BATTERY
The red LED on the front of the lamp comes on when the battery is low.
Remove the lamp from the back by turning it anticlockwise. (Fig 11)
11
Unscrew the battery compartment cover. (Fig 12) Lift the cover.
(Fig 13) Remove and dispose of the old batteries.
14
Place two new batteries of the same type (see technical data) the right
way up in the compartment, so that the polarities are correct.
These are marked by "+" and "-" in the compartment (Fig 14). Reat-
tach the light by placing it on the back and turning it clockwise until
it locks into place. Never use old and new batteries together. Low
temperatures may adversely affect battery life.
Reattach the lamp by placing it at an angle to the back and turning it
clockwise until it locks into place. (Fig 11-13)

CAUTION
• Rechargeable batteries may explode if improperly replaced.
• Never throw batteries into a fi re, as they may explode or cause a
fl ame hazard
• Dead or damaged batteries may cause skin irritation, so use suitable
gloves.
• Leaking battery fl uids are highly corrosive,
• and may seriously damage objects or surfaces they come into con-
tact with. Dispose of used batteries in accordance with manufactur-
er's instructions.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
NOTE:
Keep the motion detector free of dust and other deposits, and clean the
lamp regularly with a gentle, non-abrasive agent and a soft cloth. Ensure
that the lamp is switched off fi rst. Never allow the cleaning agent to touch
the housing or the LEDs. Keep the solar module free of dirt and other
deposits at all times. If the solar cells are dirty, the batteries will not fully
charge and the module may not work properly.
STORAGE:
If you store the lamp out of direct sunlight for a long period, prevent
battery damage as follows:
1. Set ON/OFF switch to OFF.
2. Store the lamp and solar module in a location where the module is
exposed at least to direct sunlight. This can help to prevent batter-
ies from deep discharging.
3. Charge the batteries roughly every three months, even if you are
not using them. Otherwise, they may become deep discharged and
permanently unusable. The batteries do not need to be discharged
before being recharged. Place the lamp and solar module in direct
sunlight for 3 to 4 days, or take out the batteries and regularly
recharge them with a suitable charger.
NOTE:
This lamp uses LEDs to generate light. These do not wear out like tradi-
tional incandescent bulbs, and may last for 30 years or more when used
for an average of three hours a day.
