4.4 Range indication
The range depends on various factors and is influenced by the following:
•
Capacity (Ah) and voltage (V) of the battery pack.
•
Pedal assistance level
•
Pedal assistance mode or riding program.
•
Ambient temperature
•
Wind force
•
Tyre pressure
•
Riding speed
•
Weight of the rider and the load
•
Riding behaviour
•
Road conditions
•
Use of gears
•
The range will perceptibly decrease as the battery pack gets older.
4.5 Battery care and disposal
Care
•
If a battery leak develops, avoid contact with the leaking acid and place the damaged battery in a
plastics sealed bag.
•
If acid comes in contact with skin or eyes, flush with cool water for at least 15 minutes and call a
physician immediately.
•
Charge a new battery for at least 12 hours before first use.
•
Overcharging or undercharging the battery may shorten battery life and decrease vehicle running
time.
•
Charge the battery after each use, regardless of how long the vehicle has been used.
•
Do not allow the battery to run down completely before charging.
•
Change the battery before storing the vehicle.
•
Charge the battery at least 3 hours every 3 months when not in use.
•
Leaving the battery in a discharged condition will ruin it.
•
If the vehicle will be stored for more than two months, be sure to disconnect the motor harness from
the battery.
•
Prevent the battery from moving freely inside the battery compartment.
•
Examine the battery, charger and its connector for excessive wear or damage each time you charge
the battery. If damage is detected, do not use the charger or the battery until you have replaced the
worn or damaged part.
•
Remember to remove an exhausted battery from the vehicle.
•
Battery leakage and corrosion can damage the vehicle.
•
Do not clean the battery with high pressure water.
•
Remove the battery from the vehicle when not in use.
Disposal of battery and charger
18
•
Recycle battery and charger in an environmentally friendly manner.
•
Do not dispose of your battery in a fire as the battery may catch fire or
explode.
•
Do not dispose of your battery in your regular household trash. The
incineration, landfilling, or mixing of batteries with household trash is
prohibited.
•
Return an exhausted battery to a recognized recycler. Contact your
local waste management officials for other information regarding the
environmentally sound collection, recycling, and disposal of batteries.
