This Instruction Manual will guide you through the setup procedures and outline the button features.

The TANITA Body Composition Analyzer is indicated for use in the measurement of weight and
impedance, and the estimation of body mass index (BMI), total body fat percent, total body water
percent and weight, muscle mass (skeletal and smooth), bone mass, visceral fat rating with healthy
range, Daily Calorie Intake (DCI), metabolic age, using B IA (Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis).
The device is indicated for use for healthy children 7-17 years old and healthy adults with active, moderately active, to inactive
lifestyles.

Safety Precautions
Note that people with an electronic medical implant, such as a pacemaker, should not use a Body Composition Monitor as it passes a
low-level electrical signal through the body, which may interfere with its operation.
Pregnant women should use the weight function only. All other function are not intended for pregnant women.
Do not place this monitor on slippery surfaces such as a wet floor.
Please do not use scale immediately after bathing or strenuous exercise. Scale platform will be slippery when wet. Please wipe
platform with clean, dry cloth to remove any liquids.
Important Notes for Users
This Body composition monitor is intended for adults and children (ages 7-17) standard and athletic body types.
Thanks to major investment in the latest BIA Technology and sports science research, TANITA has upgraded the
Athlete Mode function, making the measurements more accurate and suitable for a wider audience.
Who should use Athlete Mode?
Adults from the age of 18 years who either:
• Train or exercise for 12 hours or more a week and have been doing so for at least six months.
• Are body builders
• Are professional athletes who want to monitor their progress at home
• People who have a lifetime history of fitness – who used to do more than 12 hours a week – but do less now.
Recorded data may be lost if the unit is used incorrectly or is exposed to electrical power surges. Tanita takes no responsibility for any
kind of loss caused by the loss of recorded data.

Note: Body fat percentage estimates will vary with the amount of water in the body, and can be affected by dehydration or over-
hydration due to such factors as alcohol consumption, menstruation, illness, intense exercise, etc.
