6. Use
a. Stand-Alone Mode
• Connect the device to the mains. When the device does not receive any DMX signal, it will start a self-testing
program. There are two running modes without DMX signal:
No DMX Sound-activated mode. Disconnect DMX communications first and press the jog wheel. Turn it in an
Sound anti-clockwise direction. Press again to confirm.
No DMX Auto-activate mode. Disconnect DMX communications first and press the jog wheel. Turn it in a
Auto clockwise direction. Press again to confirm.
b. DMX Mode
• Link all devices to a DMX512 controller using a 3-pin DMX cable. Connect all devices to the mains. When the
moving head is ready to start, press and turn the jog wheel.
o DMX address
Addr To set the DMX address, press the jog wheel and turn it in a clockwise direction to increase value
001 and in an anti-clockwise direction to decrease. Press again to confirm.
o DMX512 Connection
Connect the provided XLR cable to the female 3-pin XLR output of your controller and the other side to the male 3-
pin XLR input of the VDP150MH7. Multiple VDP150MH7s can be linked through serial linking. The linking cable
should be a two-core screened cable with XLR input and output connectors.
o DMX512 Chain with Termination

A DMX terminator is recommended for installations where the DMX cable has to run a
long distance or is in an electrically noisy environment (e.g. discos). The terminator
prevents corruption of the digital control signal by electrical noise. The DMX terminator is
simply an XLR plug with a 120 resistor between pins 2 and 3, which is then plugged into
the XLR output socket of the last device in the chain.
