VOLTAGE SUPPLY
The equipment comes with a power cable for AC supplies. For AC net links see drawing D.1. Before connecting the
battery charger, make sure the AC supply voltage is as that specified for the equipment.
The electrical system should be provided with a switch to turn the equipment on and off. The insulation between
the contacts of the AC line wiring connections should be at least 3 mm. The AC line wiring connections should
comply with current national electrical codes.
WARNING: before connecting or disconnecting the cables from the terminals of the battery charger, make
sure the electricity supply is switched off and the batteries are not in-line connected.
WARNING: if the power cable gets damaged, contact your service center to have it replaced. To avoid
serious accidents, only authorised personnel should have access to the equipment. Access to the battery
charger by unauthorised personnel shall entitle the manufacturer to void the warranty.
BATTERIES
WARNING: during the charge the batteries may generate explosive gas. Avoid sparks and open flames.
Ensure that the place where the batteries are charged is well ventilated.
WARNING: before connecting the batteries, check for correct polarity. In fact, incorrect polarity may
seriously harm the battery charger. Even though it is protected by a fuse.
The + (red) and - (black) terminals of the battery are to be joined to the + and - terminals of the battery charger
respectively (D.1). To make the connections, use the cable terminals supplied.
If the battery charger comes with several outputs, always connect the output marked "MASTER". In fact, this is the
main output of the charger, the others are shunt through the use of isolation diodes. If the "MASTER" output is not
connected, the battery charger may provide an output voltage lower than the rated one and, as a result, less power.
WARNING: wrong connections may overheat the cables and terminals and be a source of serious danger.
