Instructions for Use
Before Using
Read these instructions carefully. They contain important notes for the use, safety and maintenance of the
appliance. Keep them in a safe place and transfer them to a possible succeeding user. Only use the
appliance for the purpose mentioned in these instructions. When using pay particular attention to the
following safety advice.
Safety advice
Connect the appliance to alternating current only –
with a rated voltage according to the rating plate – to a
correctly installed earthed socket. Cord and plug have
to be completely dry.
Do not pull the connection cord over sharp edges or
jam it, do not allow it to hang down and protect it from
heat and oil.
Do not pull the plug by the connection cord or touch it
with wet hands.
Do not immerse the appliance, the connection cord or
the plug in water or any other liquid. Risk of electric
shock.
Do not carry the appliance at the connection cord.
Do not place the coffee-maker or the glass jug onto
hot surfaces, e. g. hot plate etc. or near open flames, it
may melt.
Do not place the appliance onto water damageable
surface. Damage from splashing water might be pos-
sible.
Do not use the appliance without water. Fill the water
container with cold water only up to the MAX-level at
water-level-indicator. Do not fill water in the hot appli-
ance. Allow the appliance to cool down for at least 5
minutes before using it again.
Caution: the appliance will become very hot during
use. Scalding danger due to escaping steam! Do not
open the lid or take out the filter during operation of
item. Only touch the item by the handle.
During use do not move the appliance and do not pull
the connecting cord.
Switch off appliance after each use.
Only fill the appliance and glass-jug with pure water,
not with milk etc. Bacteria could multiply uncontrolla-
bly.
Do not use the glass jug in the microwave.
The appliance can be used by children aged from 8
years and above if they have been given supervision
or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe
way and if they understand the hazards involved.
Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by
children unless they are older than 8 years and super-
vised. Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of
children aged less than 8 years.
The appliance can be used by persons with reduced
physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of ex-
perience or knowledge if they have been given super-
vision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in
a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
Children should be supervised to ensure that they do
not play with the appliance.
Keep the appliance and connection cord out of the
reach of children. Do not let the cord hang over the
edge of the table or worktop on which the appliance
stands.
If the following happens do not use the kettle respec-
tively unplug it immediately:
The appliance or cord is damaged
The appliance leaks;
Any defect after a plunge or something similar is
suspected.
In these cases have the appliance repaired.
Unplug appliance in following cases:
Faults during use
Before cleaning and maintenance
Item is not used for longer period of time
De-scale the appliance regularly.
