Guide d'installation et de fonctionnement
Thank-you for purchasing this high quality surge
protection device. The CHSP is designed to
protect residential electrical and electronic loads
from transients and surge disturbances on your
AC powerline.
To install this device you need:
• Four self-tapping screws #8x3/4" (supplied with
purchase)
• Slot and Philips screwdriver
• Hammer, wire cutter and stripper
• For finished wall applications, you must purchase
the flushmount lid (accessory: CHSPFMKIT)
HOW TO MAXIMIZE THE CHSP PERFORMANCE:
Installation wiring should be as short as possible - less
than 12-inches/30 cm for best performance.

THIS ELECTRICAL DEVICE SHOULD BE
INSTALLED BY A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN
OR TECHNICIAN IN ACCORDANCE WITH
LOCAL AND NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODES.
Definition: the term loadcenter refers to the electrical
panel (or breaker panel) in your home.
PRE-INSTALLATION:
The CHSP can be installed inside or outside the home.
For indoor applications, the unit can be Surface or
Finished Wall (Flush) Mounted (See Figure 1). For
outdoor applications, the CHSP should be mounted as
per Figure 2. Follow the installation instructions suitable
for your required type of installation.
• The CHSP may be installed in –40
environments.
• The loadcenter must be properly grounded and
meet local, National (NEC) or Canadian (CEC)
electrical code approved practices.
• The CHSP ULTRA can be used with any
manufacturer's loadcenter (breaker panel).
INSTALLATION:
1. Turn off power to the loadcenter.
2. Remove loadcenter cover.
3. Use a portable voltage meter to verify that the power
has been disconnected, and no voltage exists on the
loadcenter bus bar.
4. Install a single two-pole, 15-amp circuit breaker in
an available space. Move circuit breaker handle to
the OFF position.
5. Your CHSP is equipped with an audible alarm. To
activate the audible alarm, install a single-pole, 15-
amp circuit breaker in an available space. Move
circuit breaker handle to the OFF position. If space

COMMENT OPTIMISER LE RENDEMENT DU CHSP :
Le câblage d'installation doit être aussi court que
possible – soit moins de 30 cm (12 po) pour un
meilleur rendement.
Définition : L'expression tableau de distribution se
rapporte au tableau électrique (ou tableau des
disjoncteurs) de la maison.
PRÉINSTALLATION :
Le CHSP peut être installé à l'intérieur ou à l'extérieur
de la maison. Pour les applications intérieures, l'appareil

peut être monté en surface ou encastré (en mur fini)
(voir fig. 1). Pour les applications extérieures, le CHSP
devrait être monté suivant la figure 2. Suivre les
directives d'installation qui conviennent au type
d'installation requis.

INSTALLATION :
1. Couper l'alimentation au tableau de distribution.
2. Enlever le couvercle du tableau de distribution.
3. Utiliser un voltmètre portatif pour vérifier que
CHSP ULTRA
quatre vis autotaraudeuses n° 8 x 3/4 po (fournies
à l'achat);
un tournevis à lame plate et un Philips;
un marteau, une pince à couper et une pince à
dénuder;
Pour les applications en mur fini, on doit acheter le
couvercle affleurant (accessoire : CHSPFMKIT).
MISE EN GARDE
CE DISPOSITIF ÉLECTRIQUE DOIT ÊTRE
INSTALLÉ PAR UN ÉLECTRICIEN OU UN
TECHNICIEN QUALIFIÉ EN CONFORMITÉ
AVEC LES CODES ÉLECTRIQUES LOCAUX
ET NATIONAUX.
Le CHSP peut être installé dans un environnement
de – 40 0 à + 40 0 C.
Le tableau de distribution doit être bien mis à la
terre et être conforme aux pratiques approuvées des
codes électriques national (NEC) ou canadien
(CCE).
Le CHSP ULTRA peut être utilisé avec un tableau
de distribution (tableau des disjoncteurs) de
n'importe quel fabricant.
