Warning!
Start the machine only after checking that all
sound-damping panels have been regularly fitted
and secured. Complete assembly of the panels is
indispensable for correct ventilation, for user safe-
ty and protection.
At this point, the compressor is ready for use.
Caution!
Silent compressors rotate anti-clockwise (observed
from the fan motor protection grille).
6. START-UP AND USE
● 2 - 3 HP and 4 HP models with direct start-up: to
start, press the green «ON» switch on the control
panel.
● 4 - 5.5 - 7.5 HP models with Star/Delta start-up: to
start, press the «ON» button on the control panel.
● All the 10 HP models: to start, press the «ON»
button on the control panel.
● On reaching maximum operating pressure, the
compressor stops, de-pressurizing the head and the
delivery pipe via a valve located under the pressure
switch or using the electrovalve. This reduces the
load on the electric motor during subsequent re-
start.
The machine restarts automatically on reaching the
lower calibration value of the pressure switch: the
compressor continues to operate in this automatic
cycle until it is switched off (by pressing the «OFF»
button).
Warning: do not restart the compressor
immediately AFTER this has been switched off
so as to permit complete venting of the air from
the head.
● The 2 - 3 HP versions are fitted with a pressure
reducer located on the control panel of the machine
(fig. 24).
Turning the knob (in the clockwise direction to
increase the pressure and in a counter-clockwise
direction to reduce this) the pressure of the air can
be regulated in order to optimize use of air-powered
tools.
The value set can be read on gauge A (fig. 1).
● When you have finished working, stop the machine,
pull out the plug or switch off the power supply and
possibly empty the reservoir.

7. MAINTENANCE
The service life of the machine depends on main-
tenance quality.
Before performing any maintenance action,
switch off the machine, disconnect it from
the electricity supply and drain the reservoir
completely.
Wait until the compressor is completely
cool! Risk of burns from hot parts inside the
machine!
Work inside the machine requires the removal of the
sound-insulating panels. To remove the front panel,
use the wrench supplied (fig. 25).
7.1 Tightening of head tension rods
Check that all screws (in particular those of the head of
the unit) are tightly drawn up (fig. 26).
The check must be performed before the first start-up
of the compressor and subsequently before the first
intensive use in order to restore the correct closing
torque value modified as a result of heat expansion.

7.2 Cleaning the intake filter
The intake filter prevents dust and dirt being drawn in.
It is essential to clean this filter after at least every 100
hours in service. Replace it if necessary. A clogged in-
take filter will decrease the compressor's performance
dramatically, while an inefficient filter causes harsher
wear on the compressor. Remove the filter as shown
in figures 27 and 28. Tap it to remove the dirt, blast it
down with low-pressure compressed air (approx. 3 bar)
and re-insert it.
7.3 Changing the oil
Replace the oil after the first 100 hours of operation
and then every 300 hours.
Drain the oil by opening the specific cock (fig. 29). After
draining the oil, close the cock. Fill with fresh oil of the
same type already present in the compressor gearcase
(fig. 30) up to the required level (fig. 31). Then refit the
oil cap (fig. 32).
Changing the oil: use SAE 40 (for cold climates, SAE
