The following are present on the 2 - 3 HP models:
On/Off switch, two gauges (one to read the pressure in
the reservoir and one for the operating pressure), hour-
counter, pressure regulator (fig. 1).
The following are present on the 4 - 5.5 - 7.5 HP
models (direct startup):
On/Off switch, delivery pressure gauge and hour-
counter (fig. 2).
The following are present on the 4 - 5.5 - 7.5 HP
models (Star/Delta start-up) and on all 10 HP
models:
«ON» pushbutton and «OFF» pushbutton, LED
indicators for «machine live» + «machine operating»
+ «machine halted / thermal cut-out tripped» (comes
on after pressing the emergency stop button or when
the thermal cut-out trips), emergency stop button, hour-
counter and pressure gauge displaying the pressure
inside the reservoir (fig. 3).
• INTERMITTENT RATIO
These compressors are designed to operate with an
intermittent duty cycle in order to avoid overheating of
the electrical motor. An intermittent duty cycle of 50%,
for example 5 minutes in operation and 5 minutes
stopped, is recommended.
• TRIPPING OF THE THERMAL CUTOUT
In the case of excess power take-off by the electrical
motor, the thermal cut-out of the motor trips,
automatically interrupting the power supply. In this
case, after tracing the causes for which the thermal
cutout has tripped, switch off the machine, disconnect
this from the power supply in order to avoid risks of
electric shock and reset as described below.
In the single-phase versions, the operator must
intervene manually, pressing the reset button located
on the terminal strip box of the motor (fig. 4).
In the case of direct start three-phase versions, the
button of the pressure switch must be returned to the
ON position (fig. 5).
On the Star/Delta start-up 4 - 5.5 - 7.5 HP and on
2. TRANSPORT AND HANDLING
The packaged machine must be transported as shown
in figures 11 and 12.
2.1 Unpacking
After removing the packaging, verify the integrity of the
machine and make sure there are no visibly damaged
parts.
In the event of doubt, do not use the machine and con-
tact the point of sale where it was purchased.
Prematic AG, 9556 Affeltrangen
all the 10 HP, the button of the thermal cutout of the
motor, located inside the electrical cabinet, must be
pressed (fig. 6).
• ELECTROVALVE
All Star/Delta start-up models are fitted with an
electrovalve (fig. 7) that vents the air from the head
of the compressor and from THE delivery line, thereby
facilitating subsequent restart.
On all other versions, this task is carried out by the
pressure switch.
• SAFETY VALVE
All compressors are fitted with a safety valve that, in
the case of irregular functioning of the pressure switch,
opens to prevent the pressure inside the reservoir
exceeding safety values (fig. 8/a).
A second safety valve is mounted on the offset plenum
(fig. 8/b) that trips in the event of malfunction to prevent
pressure inside the plenum exceeding safety values.
• FAN
The compressor cooling system is combined with an
independent electric fan controlled by a thermostat
that may remain in operation or restart even after the
compressor stops (fig. 9).
To stop the fan in order to carry out maintenance,
disconnect the machine from the power supply.
• EMERGENCY STOP BUTTON
All 10 HP models and the 4 - 5.5 - 7.5 HP Star/Delta
start-up, are equipped with a red «mushroom» button.
Pressing of this button causes emergency stopping of
the compressor (ref. B, fig. 3). To reset the emergency
and restart the machine, turn the button in a clockwise
direction until it clicks into the initial position: at this
point, the machine can be restarted.
• RESERVOIR AIR CLOSING COCK
On models envisaging it, this cock (fig. 10) can
be closed in order to work inside the machine (for
maintenance) without having to discharge the air inside
the reservoir.
Packaging items (plastic bags, nails, screws, pieces
of wood, etc.) must not be left in reach of children or
discarded in the environment, since they are potential
sources of hazard for users and environmental pollu-
tion.
3. SCOPE OF USE
The compressor is designed for generating com-
pressed air for tools operated by compressed air.
