Possible cause
Water tank empty.
The machine ready light (15) was off when
the button was pressed.
The Portafilter was not preheated (section 5). Preheat the Portafilter.
Cold cups.
The milk is not suitable: powdered milk, low-
fat milk.
The Pannarello is dirty.
No steam in the boiler.
Not enough coffee in the Portafilter.
Coffee grinds are too coarse.
The pod is old or not suitable.
Old or not suitable pod.
No water.
The grind is too fine.
Coffee has been tamped or pressed in the
Portafilter.
Too much coffee in the Portafilter.
Knob (3) is open.
The machine has limescale buid-up
The filter in the Portafilter is clogged.
The pod is not suitable.
The Portafilter is incorrectly inserted in the
brew unit.
Upper edge of the Portafilter is dirty.

Too much coffee in the portafilter.
Solution
Refill with water. (section 4.4).
Wait until the machine ready light (15) turns
on.
Preheat the cups with hot water.
Use whole milk.
Clean the Pannarello as described in section 9.
Prime the circuit (section 4.5) and repeat the
operations described in section 8.
Add coffee (section 5).
Use a different blend (section 6).
Use a different blend (section 6).
Change the pod.
Refill with water. (section 4.4).
Use a different blend (section 6).
Shake the ground coffee.
Reduce the quantity of coffee in the Portafilter.
Close the knob (3).
Descale the machine (section 10).
Clean the filter (section 9).
Change type of pod.
Insert the Portafilter correctly (section 5).
Clean the rim of the Portafilter.
Insert the pod correctly. Make sure it doesn't
hang over the edge of the Portafilter.
Reduce the quantity of coffee using the
measuring scoop.
