Descaling/fl ushing the machine
The frequency of the descaling process depends on the hardness of the water. The machine
should be descaled after about 40 brewing operations in a hard water area and after about
80 brewing operations if the water is soft.
Make sure that the product is switched off and unplugged.
Descaling the espresso unit
1)
Fill the water container with white household vinegar. Place it in the machine.
2)
Leave the vinegar in overnight.
3)
Pour out the vinegar and rinse out the water container thoroughly twice, filling the
container halfway up with fresh tap water each time and throwing the water away.
Fill the water container with white household vinegar up to the MIN mark.
4)
5)
Insert the portafilter (with filter but without coffee) and place a sufficiently large
receptacle underneath the coffee spout.
6)
Insert the plug into the mains socket.
Switch the machine on (switch position I).
7)
8)
Once the machine has heated up, turn the function switch to the left in order to start
the espresso preparation process. After a few seconds the vinegar will start pouring
out of the spout.
9)
As soon as all the vinegar has run through, turn the function switch back to the centre
position (OFF) to stop the process.
Repeat the steps with tap water as required to remove all remaining traces of vinegar
from the machine.
Cleaning the frother unit
1)
Fill the milk pitcher with water, put the lid on it and place it in the machine. Set the
frother control to
2)
Place a large enough container under the steam nozzle (minimum capacity of 325
ml).
3)
After the heating-up phase turn the function switch to the right in order to generate
steam. Steam will start to come out of the nozzle after a few seconds and this will
clean the nozzle.
4)
Continue for about 30 seconds and then turn the function switch back to the centre
position (OFF) to stop the process.
5)
Throw the water away.
Repeat the steps with tap water as required until the unit is completely clean.
If you do not want to make any drinks, switch the machine off (switch position 0) and
unplug from the mains.
