Problem
Noise is heard in the
monitor sound when
recording with an

Cause
This is not a malfuntion. (See
page 18).
The PHONES (AVLS)/LINE
OUT switch is set to LINE OUT.
The PHONES (AVLS)/LINE
OUT switch of this unit is set to
2 AVLS ON.
The HOLD/PUSH OPEN
switch is set to HOLD.
The batteries are removed from
the unit for one hour or more.
The record-protect shutter on
the cassette is open.
When recording on a partially
recorded tape, the most recent
PGM number is not displayed
before recording.
While the Start ID is being
written, none of the buttons
except STOP p can be used.
Recording has been started
from a blank segment of the
tape.
The sound source is too loud.
When monitoring the recording
sound with headphones or
external speakers, they are
placed too close to the
microphone.
There is a blank (unrecorded)
part on the tape.
Power source is disconnected
from the unit while "

" is flashing in the
display.
Solution
——
Stop recording/playback or
disconnect the headphones from
the unit. Then, set the switch to
PHONES (AVLS).
Set the switch to 2 AVLS OFF.
Slide the switch to the center
position.
Set the clock again. (See page 5.)
Close the shutter on the cassette.
(See page 7.)
When recording on a partially
recorded tape, display the PGM
number before commencing
recording.
Press the buttons after the
indicator has stopped
flashing.
Rewind the tape to the
beginning, locate the end of the
previous recording and start
recording from that point. (See
page 8.)
Set MIC SENS switch to L.
Keep the microphone away
from them.

Connect the power source and
close the lid.
