• Do not use dishwashing detergent or soap to clean your Waffle Iron as this could damage the patina
(protection layer of your Waffle Iron).
• Do not drop your Rotating Waffle Iron, as the cast iron can crack or break.
• Only transport your Petromax Rotating Waffle Iron when closed.
Before the first use
Clean your Rotating Waffle Iron thoroughly with hot water and dry well. Thanks to the pre-treated
surface (seasoned finish) you can use the robust Petromax Rotating Waffle Iron straight away after
rinsing. Seasoning is not necessary. Do not use dishwashing detergent for cleaning, otherwise the
valuable patina might be damaged. As care for your Rotating Waffle Iron we recommend the Petromax
Care Conditioner for Cast and Wrought Iron.
Cleaning, care and storage
If you care for your Petromax Rotating Waffle Iron correctly, it will last for generations. For that reason
you should observe some important basic rules:
• Let your Rotating Waffle Iron cool down completely after use and clean with warm water.
• Do not use dishwashing detergent or soap to clean your Rotating Waffle Iron, otherwise the patina
could be damaged or destroyed.
• Use a commercially available dishwashing brush or a sponge (no metal sponge!) to clean the Rotating
Waffle Iron. For stubborn or burnt food residues we recommend the Petromax Chain Mail Cleaner for
Cast and Wrought Iron, as it does not damage the patina of your Dutch Oven even when scrubbing firmly.
• The Rotating Waffle Iron is not suitable to be cleaned in the dishwasher.
• Do not clean your hot Rotating Waffle Iron with cold water. The tensions created might crack or
otherwise damage the cast iron.
• To remove possible remnants of batter from the grooves of your Waffle Iron you best use a classic
dishwashing brush and clear water.
• Dry the Rotating Waffle Iron well and apply a thin layer of Petromax Care Conditioner for Cast and
Wrought Iron before stowing. Alternatively, you can also use a neutral cooking oil or vegetable fat
for care. Do not use olive oil as it cannot be heated as strongly as other fats.
• After cleaning leave your Rotating Waffle Iron open for some time so that joints and edges can dry
properly.
• Store your Rotating Waffle Iron at a dry place. By means of a piece of cardboard, firm paper or wood
between the two cast-iron halves you ensure for additional ventilation.
• Do not stow your Rotating Waffle Iron when wet and / or untreated.
