Install electrical kit
1. Disconnect the battery.
2. If necessary, remove the following covers and trims:
Side wall moulding, rear left

3. Route the socket end of the wiring harness through the hole in the vehicle at the rear left
towards the outside to the socket retaining plate (Fig. 1/1), pull the grommet on (Fig. 1/2)
Fit the socket
4. Pull the supplied seal for the socket over the wiring harness.
5. Assembly the 3-pin microswitch housing according to the microswitch housing allocation
(table 2) and push the trailer socket onto the microswitch.
6. Connect the remaining cables to the contact supports according to the socket allocation
(Table 1), clip into the socket housing and push the rubber seal onto the socket.
7. Screw the socket to the retaining plate (Fig. 1/1) using the screws supplied.
8. Fasten the wiring harness along the towing hitch using cable ties.
9. Correctly insert the rubber grommet into the hole for the cable (Fig. 1/2).
Install electrical kit
10. Insert the 8 and 12-pole connectors onto the equivalent mating connectors on the rear left of
the coupling point (Fig. 1/3) and click into place. Where necessary remove any existing 8-pole
bridging connectors already installed in the vehicle (no longer required).
Vehicles with Park distance Control (PDC):
11. Remove the existing black 12-pole housing previously installed in the vehicle from the
coupling point, open the latch and release the individual wires from this housing. Click these
individual wires which have been released into place in the same chambers of the 12-pole
housing on the wiring harness supplied:
Chamber 1: black/yellow
Chamber 2: grey/yellow
Chamber 3: grey/brown
Chamber 4: grey/red
Chamber 6: violet/yellow
Chamber 9: green/yellow
Check operation
12. Re-connect the vehicle battery.
13. Then, as in the beginning, perform a system request via the "Guided trouble shooting" and
delete any possible error codes.
14. Check the functions of the trailer using a suitable test device (with load resistances) or with a
trailer attached.
15. Secure all cables with cable ties and re-fit all parts disassembled.
