By selecting the MENZER single-disc sander
ESM 406 you have chosen a quality product. We
would like to thank you for the trust you have
placed in our product.
Please refer to the operating and safety in-
structions on the following pages before you
start working with the machine for the first
time. Paying close attention to the instructions
also contributes to optimal results. The safety
instructions are intended to prevent accidents
caused by the improper use of the single-disc
sander.
The operating and maintenance instructions
make the user of the single-disc sander familiar
with the design, the technical requirements, the
safe operation, proper maintenance and upkeep
as well as storage and application. The machine
is used at the risk and responsibility of the
operator. These operating instructions and the
safety information contained therein should be
carefully stored.

MENZER ESM 406 arrives undamaged, it has
been packaged in multiple separate boxes.
Depending on which set you have ordered, the
delivery will include:

1 x cover plate, 1x driving disc for sanding pads
1 x driving disc for hook & loop sanding discs, 1 x
driving disc for sanding discs

2. Safety Instructions
Be sure to wear ear protection if the noise level
exceeds 85 dBA!

2.1 Instructions for power safety

• This machine may be connected ONLY to sock-
ets that provide the operating voltage displayed
on the machine's identification label, and that
are grounded in accordance with all applicable
regulations.
• Make sure the power switch is in the OFF
position before you pull the power plug out of
the socket. Also, ensure that a driving disc for
sanding or polishing discs is attached.
• Do not leave the machine standing unattended
if it is connected to a power supply. Disconnect
the machine from the power supply whenever
you stop using it, when you wish to change or
remove attachments, discs, pads or brushes, and
before undertaking maintenance or repairs.
• Inspect the power connector cable regularly
for damage. Do not use the machine if the power
cable or plug is damaged.
• Do not pull on the cable to remove the plug

from the power socket. Make sure the machine
is switched off before you disconnect it from the
power supply.
• To minimise the risk of an electric shock, store
the machine only in a dry environment. Never
leave it out in rain. Clean it with a damp cloth
only.

2.2 Safety in your working environment

• Ensure that your work area is always well-ven-
tilated and well-lit so as to prevent accidents. In
order to minimise dust levels, attach a vacuum
ring and a compatible industrial vacuum cleaner
to the machine.
• Do not use the machine outdoors.
• Do not use the machine around flammable or
explosive materials.
• When taking the machine into confined spaces
(such as elevators), take care that the handle and
push bar are in a vertical position to keep them
away from walls and other obstructions.
